Last night at the pool hall I had my best hustle night to date.

Hell yes! Those old ladies carry candy in their purses! Though the smell of mothballs is enough to keep me away. :(

2. Theres not many cuemakers in Corpus. Fat and Lazy as well. I think I know who this might be.
Wow you want to critize me too. Go ahead and explain exactly what I did that was wrong. I beat them at there own game and had a good time out.

Its true, if killing old ladies wasn't a crime I'd make it a sport!

You know I'm not a bad guy I'm not some hustler, I gamble from time to time (a lot of people do) and this particular night the moons aligned for me. Dude got what was coming to him.

The sad part of this is because of few of you stuck up whiny babies didn't see the whole pictures before forming an opinion you may have potentially hurt my ability to do good business with people here. You people sure don't mind flinging the mud at anyone if you want your opinion heard.

Scott I think you made some GREAT POINTS in YOU POST. Also Bishop when you said ''These guys think I’m right for the taking since I’m already down almost 200 bucks."

When you were down the 200 what would you have said if they pack up and left with your $$$....;)

Bishop - FWIW, doin' what you did is one thing... virtually braggin' about it on the internet is another IMO.

If it were me, I certainly wouldn't post what I did... that's all.

And like I said from the start... FWIW. ;)

I'd like to reference this as well. A good majority of the people who posted here clearly didn't read the whole post before openly throwing out the insults.

I don't know what FWIW means. I thought it was a good story. The bad guys got what was coming to them. Whats the big deal.

FWIW = For what it's worth... in other words, take it or leave it.

It is a good story... thing is, tho... not everybody thinks it's the right thing to do... so, it starts a back 'n forth thing about the moral issue of hustling pool. Many here want to improve pool's image... not reinforce the negative side of it.

This is a public forum... read by many... that's all.

Your story is better shared with friends who likely will appreciate hearing it.

FWIW. :)

I answered your questions. Shocked at how many pretentious A-holes post here. Like I mentioned before they intended to hustle me plain and simple I out smarted them. What exactly is unbelievable about the story? What whould you have done differently Mr. Perfect.

They may have thought they could win; they may have thought you were a lousy player who might go off; they may have thought they had the nuts if you did.... But nothing you said suggests to me they tried or intended to hustle you. Maybe there's something you're leaving out.

There may be some places where the kind of behavior you described is accepted and/or expected. But I can tell you there are a lot more places where it's not. I've gambled with strangers in at least half of the states in the US and in two Canadian provinces in the last several years. There is a pretty strong and widespread ethic about this stuff.

What would I have done differently? I wouldn't have dumped and/or hidden my speed to entice them to bet more. That's unethical, imo. And I find the "it's a dog-eat-dog world anyway, so I may as well screw someone else before he screws me" argument kind of sad.

I didn't really leave anything out I guess you had to be there I realized when I left I wasn't being invited to a friendly game of pool, they had set me up. Its gambling where does ethics come into this anywhere.

Are you saying that with all your gambling you put forth your A game everytime. How is that gambling? I would be shocked to find even 2% of the betters to have any kind of ethics when it comes to gambling, thats what tournaments are for. I guess I should have gone in and just given my A+++++ game and won table time and beer money and called it night early when no one else would play me. Then what the next yo-yo they invite to play gets raked out of his rent money. I hope they learned a lesson.

I gamble all the time, sometimes with strangers and usually for a couple of bucks to just make it interesting. I can count the number of times on one hand that I actually set out to aquire financial gain on a given night. I'm not a hustler but I hustled someone who was intending to screw me over.

Some might not have been as calculating as I was but I felt it wasn't a unethical thing to do.

I guess when I hear that word I think of someone who goes out on a regular basis with the intention to take advantage of someone. I used the word hustle in my title because thas what I did to them, yes I hustled them, I wouldn't consider myself a hustler as if it were a job or source of income. No more than if I play some basketball this weekend can you call me a basketball player.

The times that I have drawn someone onto a table or into a bigger pot are usually the loud mouthed a-holes or some jerk at a bar with a big head. I can't say that I've gone out and totally taken advantage of a stranger with intent to screw them over, unless they asked for it.

I can't say that I looked at it that way. Had I gone in and look at this guys cue and set him up to take advantage of him you could say that, it was just the opposite he intended to set me up, so I beat him at his own game.

Kind of like a big bully sets up a little kid but then the little kid kicks his ass good all over the playground. Bully had it coming and the little kid wasn't looking for a fight he just finished it. But I'm guessing you guys might think he should go and run to the teacher or something.

Means, "This stupid keyboard won't work right now that I've spit a mouthful of coffee all over it."

Basically he was saying that he had a spit-take when he read that you were concerned about your ability to do business with people here in the future...lol.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know for sure they wanted to set you up? Perhaps they just saw that you liked to play and that you might be interested in playing a few games so they invited you to play?!

Well all I said is I got over on some jerks. I didn't think it was fair to throw insults at me since I do and plan to do more business in the future here. I don't like the idea that some people might get the impression that I can't be trusted because I hustled some idiot that was trying to get over on me. Is that a fair concern or is my thought process wrong here.

You all win. You are all so much better than me. I'd like a mod to just go ahead and delete this thread, its pointless and going nowhere, haters will hate no matter what. Lets move on.

Dude, chill a moment.
We all heard your perspective, and you feel you 'beat' the guys fair and square.

Yep, your thought process isn't hearing anything that doesn't agree with your opinion. The point being, you deceived folks, whether they were good or bad. Your original post, now removed, never said how they were out to cheat you first, IIRC. Only that YOU cheated them - setting them up, pretending, and doing everything you could with the only goal of getting the cheese. Take as much as possible from them, which somehow makes you a better man. Get it?

Oh, and then how somehow the posters here have now hampered your ability to do business here. Well, honestly man, who wouldn't have a little caution after hearing your exploits?

So if you want to learn something from all of this, it's that deception doesn't have many that agree that it is okay.

Just my $.02
