Lathe Safety

WOW......he's lucky his foot didn't end up on the other side the room......

thats just great how his idiot friends are just laughing their balls off while this is all going down.........

WTF were they thinking.......

-Grey Ghost-

I know, it looked like one of his buddies kicked it on to be funny. Very lucky nobody was maimed.

Dumbass kids. Could have crippled him for the rest of his life and his parents would have sued the school for millions, as if the schools aren't broke enough already.

Reminds me of a shop incident when I was a kid. A guy left the key in the chuck and turned the lathe on, but instead of hitting him, it hit another guy square in the chest and knocked him half way across the room. Nothing but severe rib bruising but a few feet closer & it could have been fatal, like a giant 3lb t-shaped bullet.

That kid is very fortunate. God must really look out for fools, as the old saying goes.

And where was the teacher when this happened ?
Due to budget cuts, he and his aid were probably on early off day.

I've seen a key or two fly off the top of Bridgeport mills in my old machining class.

Most of our shop teachers went to the bar for lunch and came back reaking like booze. Its pretty hard to get hurt in drafting class but the biggest culprit was the carpentry teacher.
