Legends and Champions Bad Blood, official press release with rules etc.

More good news, it seems that Budweiser have taken an interest in the Bad Blood event and have bought a sponsorship package. I am just hoping that they get more and more involved with the sport. Nomatter if you drink or think drinking is bad for the sport its would be nice to get some attention from the BIG boys. T-Wheels is a happy man :)

That is GREAT news. Glad to see them venturing into an event that you are putting on, Mark. That way they won't see something that could give a black eye to our sport.

Really cool. Reaallly cool. Congrats.

I don't like Bud but I'll buy my friends a couple buckets of beer when this goes off, can't wait.

Not sure that this is supposed to be open for comment or not, but I would much rather drop the Straight pool and add banks or one pocket, and make the 8 ball and 10 ball races longer.

The other thing is that the straight pool is worth 20 to win it more than the other 2 disciplines. Not sure if the straight pool is longer to allow for the person to make 5 extra points or not.

I imagine it is to make sure that the second day with the straight pool happens and that there is a chance to come back and win, that would be my reasoning for the 14.1 to go longer.

I've a question about the give back option under rule #5. Normally this rule is only sometimes used in 10 Ball but the way it's listed it (not under 10 Ball specifically) suggests that it applies to all three disciplines. I noticed rule #1 (break box) specifies it pertains to 8 & 10 Ball only, but rule #5 doesn't say anything about only applying to certain games. I'd assume it is meant as a 10 Ball rule only. Please clarify.

Thanks.

How tight are the pockets on Johnny's table?? I heard that they are tight, but are they close to 3 7/8?

Less than 4" pockets - that's radical! This is going to be another great one.

Good job and I hope to see more of these challenge matches happening.

It sounds great, and I really like the format. A quick question, is this tvmike's first PPV stream? I'm just curious what provider he'll be going with... I hear the ustream pay-per-view system wants a big cut. But it might be more reliable than some of the others out there.

Also, I'm not sure if we can apply the word "standard" to pool rules... in 10b, are they playing Grady rules (or grady-style) where missed shot = option for incoming player?

According to the OP, yes they are playing option on all missed shots, but it's a little confusing because it doesn't state that it is for 10 Ball only. Is it at all possible all three disciplines will be played this way? I can't imagine so but I had to ask.

The PPv will be done through Ustream and yes they have decided also that they want a decent cut. When we first began making the plans for this Ustream was free or they took a small flat fee. Certainly not what its going to end up costing. Thats why I keep saying we need all the support we can get. The next one we do will be done differently and some changes will need to be made. Ah well we live and learn right?

As far as the rules go all the little details will be worked out probably on the Thursday before when we can get with Bill Stock who is the ref for the match. I think its going to be call ball for 8-ball and 10-ball break from the box in those also and I believe no shot clock in the 14.1 Once Bill has had a chance to sit down with the players and go over everything either he or myself will post them in detail. Without nit picking details I think for the 8 & 10 Ball the rules will be the same as Earls Match against Shane.

Mark I am not that familiar with a streaming setup but I gotta ask are you doing this ppv ad free through ustream is why they are charging ? I ask this because you are able to password the channel with a single pass which can be retreived through paypal once they pay at no charge to my knowledge from ustream. This of course is certainly not a great way to do it as there is chance for a lamer to give out the pass once registered to their buddies, BUT can be monitored by requiring the viewers to be logged in by username & blocking guests. The other downside is of course putting out a great product and having those pesky ads in it. If that is anything you want to look at further drop me a pvt as for the actual channel setup I am very familiar with due to years of handling old IRC servers and can set it up in no time. The stream part itself I have never done or looked at so can't help you there but am sure TV Mike has it all under control. His streams have good quality from all I have watched.

Hmmm

It would be cool if everyone that played in a league or local tourney to make a letter and bring some copies and pass them out. Many times the league guys don't even know this is going on would have jumped on it if only they had known.

Do something for pool today... tell your league buddies, or tourney buddies or anyone that is interested in watching championship pool !!!

The more successful this is, the more matches we will all get to see down the road. Just do it !!
