I am located in Orlando, send me a PM.

^^ From what I hear, very good for the lessons (black jack, that is)

When Ignacio Chavez is in that area he gives lessons, I think he's still up in NY/NJ area tho.

Here in Orlando, there is also Mike Sigel. He definitely is the best around here (or anywhere), but his lessons will cost you some major $$$.

:p

I highly recommend David (Blackjack). I haven't yet had the chance to get that far south (lol I am a Canadian boy!) but he and I have had phone conversations and numerous PM's in which I really took a lot away and learned. He is very knowledgeable and really has a great personality. You will truly enjoy speaking with him and having access to his knowledge would only be a bonus.

What he said!! Better bring your wallet and your buddies and his buddies...

David would be a great choice! And the price is right.

How far is Palm Harbor from Orlando? I have heard some great things about Tony Crosby's lessons. A few of the female pro's take lessons from him. I have no idea what they cost but you can send an email from www.tonycrosby.com

Skill Level

I am not sure what skill level you are at......BUT The great Buddy Hall lives around TAMPA. Lessons from a Hall of Famer!!

Drake

You can get some good pool lessons in land of Mickey, really good lessons.

Blackjack is a good guy I tired David on my last vacation.

Ray Martin is also good if you want to drive to the gulf side.

I have had lessons from both and thought both were a good value.

If you go up to north FL there is some guy they call 400 or something like that he plays a little too.

Good luck with the learning experience.

I'm pretty sure he moved away from Tampa a year or two ago. Possibly to Tejas?

Are you saying Mike Sigel is the best pool instructor anywhere? Just thought I'd get clarification on this, since I'd never heard that before. I do think very highly of his mechanics; his stroke alignment is a thing of beauty. But I'd never heard that he's exceptional as a teacher.

Andrew,

If you ever see Mike, sit down and engage him in conversation for a while. If you can see beyond some of the character quirks and manage a way to skillfully nudge out some inside info from him about what he does on the table and why, you will walk away with some great knowledge by one of the greatest players to ever play this game. You just have to find a way to get him to talk about THAT.lol. He is an exceptional teacher, just buy his video series - great stuff - although IMO they only scratch the surface.

FWIW, there is an opportunity here in Orlando to learn from a man that won more tournaments than anybody else in the history of the game. Of course his price is high, but the opportunity is there. Believe it or not, at his price, he does get a lot of students - and he is always booked for exhibitions.

Buddy now lives in Metropolis, IL or Paducah, KY across the river. At least according to him on the last Run Out Radio I listened to.

I highly recommend David "Blackjack" Sapolis. I've had the pleasure of shooting with him, and read his blogs. He is incredibly talented and knowledgeable!

I've always wondered what gum he likes to chew. He sure likes to chew the gum.:D

I was in Orlando last week. Crap weather and looked for somewhere close to play. Drove by Oshucks - no thanks. Ended up at Backstage Billiards on International Drive. Nothing great at all. Tables were slow as molasses in a freezer and the amount of smoke was bothersome. Any suggestions on where to play next time I'm in Orlando?

Clicks in Casselberry - Semoran Blvd (436)
Clicks on South Semoran going towards the airport (436)
Jimmy's on Orange Blossom Trail

Backstage Billiards has 3 locations - one on OBT at Southchase, the one on International Drive and Kirkman Rd, and one on Palm Coast Parkway in Lake Buena Vista near Disney. Though the equipment isn't great, they do have specials every day of the week and they definitely take care of their customers. The tables are from Proline Billiards and the pockets are not cut correctly, which adds an extra challenge. lol. The one you went has aweful tables, however I was able to put a 118 ball run in straight pool on one of those mud pits last week. It' all about the challenge.
:p

The tables at Clicks (both locations) are done by Mike House (posts here as MHOUSE) and he is definitely one of the best in the business and the table tables are awesome.

I'm usually on Table 1 at Click's (near the Airport - hey Mike - thanks for fixing the rails on that table!) or I am at Backstage in Lake Buena Vista.

You cant go wrong with Dave...he has a wealth of knowledge and has no trouble expressing the point he is trying to get across. Ray Martin is another great choice but may be a little far.

Voodoo~~~friends with MHOUSE since the Q-Master in Davie days...

p.s....Dave, a phone call is in order today <and I did leave a messege, lol>
