Larry "The Stick" Pearlman Jr

Larry Pearlman Jr is an amazing person. He does not let his handicap keep him from doing what he loves...Playing Pool! He is a 40 ball runner in straight pool and I have witnessed him break and run a 3 pack in 9-ball. If you play around central and south Jersey you have probally seen him play.

I'm with you here.

Accolades to all that have overcome.

I play with one such individual on every occasion we have & he is a fine player regardless.

What great examples & role models they all are.

Best Wishes to Them All & You Too,
Rick

I realize after seeing players like this, shows how lucky we really are.

I have a minor disablity. (i have severed tendons and can't use my left hand properly) so i knwo how tough that is, nevermind what these guys have and still play.

Kudos to the handicapped players.

Handicap players

The top photo is (I believe) Handless George Sutton. Evidently there wer two George Suttons- but this one was a champion player.

I believe this picture probably around 1920 or so.

But you are right - all players who play with a physical handicap should be respected and they are great role models. I admire them a lot.

major props to those who pursue the sport with physical handicaps. its hard enough as it is playing without a disability, but to continue pursuing this game with a disadvantage takes a lot of heart. they probably understand certain aspects of the game that we would never think of, everyone has a piece of the puzzle.

I'm a below the knee amputee. That certainly doesn't present much of a handicap to overcome compared to the hand/arm amputees, those guys are amazing. Affects my balance a little now and then, not a big deal.

I just got a new leg made and it was finished this past week. The Prosthetist knows I'm a pool enthusiast and made it a little extra special for me. Thought you might get a kick out of it.

nobcitypool 2 thumps up on your Prosthetist design. My Brother-in-law while living in the state of Washington built Prosthetist at the company he work at. He was a Machinist.

Thanks all for replying. I know there numerous other player. Chris Raftis [sp?] is the only one I know who wrote instructional books or gave lessons...

i have seen larry play once @ sancastle billiards 5 or 6 years ago truly amazing !

There was a guy that had a special contraption for a bridge at the Indiana State Pool Tournament each year. It had wheels and multiple places for him to get the right bridge. Don't know the guys name but he played pretty damn sporty when I watched him.

Personally I think pool misses ANOTHER opportunity. I think it is a great game for the handicapped.

We should really toot our horns more about it.

Scott Simonetti is a player out of the NYC area. He played my buddy one year at the SBE and he is a hell of a player. Missing almost half of his left arm. He shoots with an awesome contraption. Hopefully someone has a pic of him. Really nice guy too.

Ken... Are you aware that pool is the ONLY sport that has a professional venue for handicapped players? People think about basketball, but that is only college level. The wheelchair players have their own tour and national title tournament. I do agree that more can be showcased, like they are here in this thread. Kudos to all players with any kind of disability!
