lets see some great wood .... you like or have at hand

I wish people just post up some of your favorite woods that you either like and or have....doesn't matter just show off wood

I like some of the pics of recently cut wood that Eric posted in this thread:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=193359

Does the bacteria in the wood affect the wood after it gets cut or after the wood gets assembled into a cue? Will it continue to manifest or does it die out eventually? How do you stabilize it? How does it cause a problem for shipping?

For example:

thats a good idea...I'll think about that more......some of these by the way I do buy...... and some I make...I buy them from a certain individual that know the process too and only when they are good looking as hell.

The bacterias I use are cultured in a lab from another country and I pick them up myself.....cheaper for me then to have them transported to me......I have a chemical that kills them off and the mushroom plays a great deal and knowing when to kill them to keep it's roots in the wood from disappearing before I treat the wood and keep it's roots from rooting away.....
so by killing them off within a 48 hour period after the cut it won't affect the cue and as the wood dries it kills the rest that were still alive and then I bake the wood which more, then vacume treat after which kills more, then the dipping for stablizing kills more,.......they should all be dead by the second process....... then I take them for more process 2 more steps...

They're absolutely gorgeous pieces of wood - that's for sure. Here's another one.

Thats very useful information. I cant wait to see a cue with these woods in them...

When you said you wanted some pictures of great wood I grabbed my camera and unzipped my pants, then I realized it was the other wood you were talking about.

Dude, those are some insane pieces. You have no idea how many styles of guitar tops that ran through my head when I saw those. Absolutely fantastic.

What do you do for a living? You are a very creative individual!

Beautiful, but how does all of those processes affect the integrity of the wood?

make it stronger.....less likely to warp also.. heat resistent....water resistence...I wished there was a spell checker..

anyways I really wanted to see many different woods....before or after the turn..

I posted my favorites...will anyone do the same

Here's a few squares, a variety pack if you will. There must be 50 or more different species of wood in my shop. I never realized how much wood I actually had until I tried taking pics of it. I got 75% of one rack covered in these pics, and each piece of wood is one of a stock of 10-50 pieces. There's two more shelves I never got pics of, plus a garage full of wood that I don't have room for in my shop. I buy more wood than I build cues. I won't use a fraction of what I got before I die. Aside from the pics, I have honduras rose, african blackwood, 6 different types of ebony, paduak, shedua, jatoba, yellowheart, 3 different domestic walnuts, german walnut, ironwood, 2 types of mesquite, spiny allthorn, mulberry, sumac, oaks, cherry, birch, bolivian rosewood, sandalwood, zebrawood, etc. Far too much to mention. I can't even begin naming everything I got for cuemaking. It's friggin nuts. I think i'm gonna sell all of my wood & retire in Costa Rica LOL

All cocobolo:
2010wood006.jpg

Texas ebony, kamphi rosewood, zircote, cochen rosewood, madagascar rosewood, east indian rosewood, satinwood
2010wood004.jpg

Madrone burl, afzelia burl, pyinma, curly bubinga, curly maple, curly koa
2010wood003.jpg

Curly goncal alves, amboyna burl, teak burl, quilted bubinga, brown mallee burl, curly redheart, maple burl
2010wood002.jpg

Curly purpleheart, curly chechen, curly olive, camphor burl, tambootie, B&W ebony, curly narra

thank you I hope more people post

should....I guess but want it Exclusively mine.... I am greedy.....hence piercy exclusive....
joking I would but I dont think people will pay for my time in making some of them.... not to mention some I have to plant mushrooms and inject bacteria in the tree to get the color pattern I want. legally transporting bacteria is freaking expensive..... that's why the woods I carry or use is exclusive to my cues.
thanks......
if the price was right.......maybe

I should have done some homework. I did not know you made cues yourself. I am a big fan of beautiful wood and may be in touch with you in the future. A cue made from something like that burl in the fourth picture in your initial post would be breathtaking.

My apologies for posting non pool related pics but these have some pretty nice wood albeit plain compared to what you create.

Here's some claro walnut in the form of a 22. Damn thing shoots lights out too :D.

Here's some cocobolo in the form of a turntable. Sound is to die for.
