Let's talk chalk

So what's your favourite chalk, now a days.

Personally I have a hard time spending more than 5 bucks and cube. I'm really enjoying some Predator blue that someone gave my not to long ago. Pretty smooth but kind of messy, but plays well.

Go post your up, thanks.
I've been a chalk ho in the past, here are some notable chalks.

Kamui .98 was dirty and expensive, held on the tip so long it helped me develop bad PSR. At the time I thought it was good to not chalk. Chalking with purpose (while observing the table) gives you pause to see what you need to see just a bit longer. I understand why people love it and I used to sing it's praise back when it was the only premium chalk. Use this if you like your CB ruined with blue embedded in the surface.

Balabushka, junk. Dirty and nothing special. Very dry and very little grip.

Russian Magic, great chalk, everything you could ask for, great price, but somewhat dirty. Cleaner than Master, but still a little dirty.

Taom Pyro, great chalk, somewhat expensive, but CLEAN. No marks on the CB or cloth. It's the cleanest chalk I've every used and works very good. Very forgiving as far as miscues if you forget to chalk. Lasts a very long time.

Lava chalk, good chalk, kind of nice to apply but there are some pumice chunks in it that are too large. Fairly clean but the pumice can scrape chalk off of very hard tips. Looks like worm trails through mud on a sidewalk. Wonderful for medium or soft tips.

Masters, surprisingly good chalk, but DIRTY as hell. Invest in a good brush, X1, and/or a vacuum.

Silver Cup, not great, usable but it just doesn't feel right to me.

Sportscraft, absolutely the worst chalk I've ever used. Give it to your opponents and watch their miscues go up.

Triangle, good chalk, DIRTY.

Pre-flag Masters, same as masters IMO, but might be dry or wet since it's old now.

I've went back to Masters as it's what the guys I play with use and I don't really feel like babysitting chalk anymore. It's dirt cheap, dirty, but works good.

I picked up some Taom pyro a couple months back to see what all the fuss was about. I like it. It is super clean and doesn’t leave marks on the cue ball. That said I still use Master cause it’s square, cheap, and it works just as well.
Maybe if I had a table at home the Taom would be worth it, keeping everything clean. But at the pool room I don’t get any benefits and the round shape is pretty annoying.

Whats wrong with Silver cup. I bet there's something to do with the climate of a country cause silver cup working great here!!
I found Silver Cup to be abrasive. At the time I was using WB and these would get worn down in under a month of casual play.

EMERGENCY ALERT……..PAGING DR. ALCIATORE…….Dr. ALCIATORE……..CALLING DR. ALCIATORE.

That’s all I got to offer….do whatever you will….it’s your money….if it makes you feel better, great but it’s
inarguable that no brand chalk makes you a better player or shoot any better as long as you chalk properly.
Dr. Dave Alciatore, noted pool neurosurgeon, has done extensive research. In the end, use whatever you like.

Would now be a good time to remind everyone that their $2,500 cue doesn't play better than a $500 cue? I'll never understand why people get so involved in how strangers spend their money.

im probably going to have to try this one now (being that people say its super clean which is all im concerned with) since i cant find any green russian magic, the only place i seen is an ebay store thats in austrailia and the shipping costs more the chalk itself

I also like how clean the pyro is. Also agree with whoever posted that the shape sucks.

Contact Chicago RJ. He's probably got some green on hand.

I tried a lot of different chalk and I use two chalks 99% of the time.

For my home table, I keep Russian magic blue chalk on my table. I find it a lot cleaner than master chalk and does a good job. I like it because its semi affordable for when my friends / etc are over playing.

When I am out shooting I play with TOAM Pyro because its SO clean and just works. I know its a bit expensive, however it last forever. The main reason why I use it is because of its shape, I know that's a sharp contrast to other people who hate the shape, but I keep my chalk in my pocket and the small round cube is easier for me to get in and out of my pocket compared to a square cube. Yes, it does suck when I drop it, but that doesn't happen to often.

Blue Diamond.

Not a whole lot more expensive than Master, but it seems to work a bit better for me and is definitely cleaner.

I've been using Toam Pyro and have been really happy with it. It seems to stay on the tip a lot longer than the Blue Diamond I was previously using.

the difference in green russian magic to blue was a shocking let down on how dirty the blue is
More pigment in the blue. Darker colors look dirtier because they stain. Ever shoot with red chalk. OUCH, lol
We will NEVER make red Magic Chalk. EVER. Lenin would roll over in his Tomb ;)

I thought I responded and told you to contact Seyberts. I know they just got a fresh batch of green and blue :)

I have to agree. Chalk should be square!
