Lindsey Graham Calls Pool Players Liars

Someone find out what pool hall maybe we can figure out who the hustler was!

This story could be good!

Get a grip folks. He is calling the Iranian government liars, and they are. This has to do with the international nuclear talks with Iran, US, and others on the US Security Council. He mentioned he was able to detect liars from working in his fathers pool room. :

But there are never any liars in a pool room! :shocked2:

This is a really misguided and frankly unfair reason to dislike Mr. Graham when there are so many really good reasons to dislike him available.

If anyone is legitimately offended by what he said, I feel sorry for you and how difficult everyday life must be for your fragile little self.

Not sure that needs mentioning, because I know the Iranian government is lying when their lips move, nothing else is required ;)

Iran "claims" it will not abuse it's nuclear program if allowed, and will not build weapons to destroy Israel, even though they fully admit that Israel must die at all costs. But that the US and others should trust them to do the right thing and not build a bomb that is capable of not only attacking their sworn enemy, but wiping that country off the face of the earth.

Of course, asking for complete and unfettered access to their nuclear program to ensure they don't do exactly that and the Iranians are balking. And of course, they never did say they would NOT bomb Israel, nor sell a nuclear weapon so someone who may hit their next favorite enemy, the USA. Only that they won't "build" weapons. So, yeah, we should be OK ;)

Giving Iran nuclear capabilities would be like giving a drunk suicidal guy who just lost his job, his wife and his dog the codes to the US nuclear weapon installations, but hey, lets trust them anyways, what's the worst that can happen :shocked2::eek::yikes::speechless::bash:
I can't believe people are defending Lindsey on this ignorant statement. There are serious arguments about our Middle East policy, and "I once knew some pool players" is not one of them.

But I'm curious about this: The alternative is war with Iran, right? I mean, they accelerated their nuclear research starting about 10 years ago. If we keep on that same course, they'll keep their nuclear research program. Right? Our current policy does nothing to stop them from getting nukes. So if you're against a treaty because they might get nukes under it, you must be really against the current sanctions policy. The only other option I see is war. Am I understanding that correctly?

I'm not defending anyone. I'm defending the incorrect statements afforded to the guy. But calling the Iranian government liars is hardly an incorrect statement, nor anything to get anyone riled up. The pool player comments has got you guys riled up over nothing. He called the Iranian government liars, so what. I don't think there is anyone on the planet that can make an argument against that statement.

Our current policy won't stop them, but allowing them to accelerate the process with a complete bs treaty does nothing. They will NOT live to the letter of the law, their top guy already admitted as much.

and yeah, the UN Security Council may have to act one day, as a group, to stop Iran. I'm OK with that as well if the case is made. Iran with nuclear weapons is one scary prospect for the middle east and the rest of the world.

Google the experts, this treaty is a "sham" and is not worth the paper it is printed on. So, not much purpose to it, but hey, go ahead, I'm over 50, I probably wont' be here when the shit hits the fan anyways ;)

Now you've done it. This thread is doomed. Mr. Wilson's going to send it, and us, into never-never land and we'll not be heard from again. I hope you're happy.
I better go pack some tooth paste and extra underwear. Maybe some writing paper for some letters back home. I wonder what it's going to be like. I hope PINKLADY's there. She's so nice.
Aw, shit! Is pj going to be there?

No, Pinklady isn't here but we do have free hugs.

Pool Players are Liars. No way. If that's the case, I might know a couple of fishermen that would fit the bill too.

Maybe myself included on occasion.

Those of you who think I'm "riled up" need to take it easy. I was merely pointing out the fact that he did it. I never said that pool rooms don't contain liars, but to make a generalization, especially as a politician, is obviously unethical.

Some of you take things too seriously. Lighten up and laugh every once in a while.

I think you're missing a couple of things. First, the bold part above is what liberals thought about the Soviet Union. They didn't consider that we might be able to collapse their economy. Second, the first thing Obama did in entering negotiations with Iran is to lift the sanctions that were in place. By many accounts, the sanctions were actually becoming very effective. Maybe tightening them even more would have been in order. What Obama did was to effectively undercut his own ability to negotiate. Complete idiocy and incompetence.

I'm no big fan of Guber Graham, but the real scum here is Jon Stewart. What does racism have to do with anything? Stewart introduces the Graham clip by mentioning racism coming out of nowhere. Graham says: 1) I worked in a pool hall 2) By working there I learned to smell a BSer. 3) the Iranian Government smells like BS.

Where is the racism? Stewart is planting the idea in the viewer's mind that Graham knew Iranian pool players when he was a kid and they were all liers. Only after the clip does Stewart mention how stupid it is that since he spotted liers in a pool hall that he is an expert on Iranian policy (departing from the racism charge).

I think Graham was just trying to be folksy. Much ado about nothing, IMO.

I don't think anyone thought you were riled up? Taking bribes, passing legislation to help your buddies at home, banging your intern, and a myriad of other things that all politicians do, are unethical... busting on the Iranian government, and some how a general swipe at pool players does not quite reach the "unethical" scale more than it's just a general observation.

But it's all good, folks are more upset that a few pool players from 40 years ago might have been unjustly insulted, meanwhile, Iran will have nukes very soon
