Just got back from the Derby. Could only spend the weekend there and will definitely make plans for the whole thing next year. If you get the chance it is a great time.

Little Joe has a "booth" in the vendor section. What a fantastic person. If you get the opportunity while you are there give him a visit. I must have spent my whole afternoon session with him (could have saved the $6 afternoon admission but it was worth it). Just stopped by to say hi and didn't get into the play area until after 6:00. I have his DVD's but I had a few questions on why I couldn't get some things to work for me. He corrected me on a "few" of my flaws plus gave me some other advice that was not on his video but may be on his next one. Learned a lot as I watched him help other players that came to his booth. He was more that willing to talk to and help anyone.

His videos are well worth the cost. The videos have Joe with the Behnke family doing the demonstrations. The quality is great and there is a lot of info that will help you get to the next level.

I saw Joe at DCC, and you are right. He knows a lot and is very helpful. I forgot to get his DVD's, but I will order them from him and now have to pay for shipping... oh well,, I hope they are as good as others have told me....

Imagine having him hang out in your local poolhall & play in ring games with you every weekend...fortunately, that's my life. I have MUCH to learn from him...but I'll get there, dollar by dollar. LOL

I can't do much against you guys but....

When is the game... Sat at what time?

How many usually in?

Stakes? (how much do I stand to lose to learn and have fun. Seriously... if i'm in for a couple/three hours and win no games how much to I lose?... ball park guess.)

Joe is a very friendly and generous guy. He seems happy to share his knowledge and love of the game. I called him out of the blue, and we became friends on the phone.

I am looking forward to his next DVD.

Joe, if you are ever in the New Orleans area, call me and I will buy the crawfish, the beer, and oh yeah, maybe some pool, too.

I love ring games, and this sounds like a good one. I'd split expenses to go, keep me posted.

Does anyone know if joe does personal instruction? If so, what does he charge? I think a few hours with him could do wonders for my game. The worst that could happen is he tells me there's no hope for me:).

Pm sent. :groucho:

I concur! I stopped at his booth last Saturday and he tells me to get my cue and lets go to work. Joe is a great guy and he loves the game and his personality reflects that. Get his DVDs....they are the triple nuts!:

Y'all are right, Joe is the man. We have talked on the phone many times over the past couple of years and got to hang out a bit at the DCC this year too. His videos are the bomb, his knowledge is amazing.

He is a great guy and I would suggest his videos to anyone that may be interested. Good stuff for sure. If you are reading this Joe, it was an honor to be able to share a meal and talk with you this year.

I am in the AZBilliards room with another memeber just knocking balls around playing my worst game ever, I can't make 3 balls. In walks little Joe Villalpando just looking around. Its about 5:00am and not real busy so I give him my Meucci and we start playing and talking. I have both his videos and the one that I did not study was the kicking because it was a little confusing. Not only did he help me clear the part that I did not understand up but he helps me with my English and position play. Now I am starting to make shots and strings some balls together and its starting to come together. We are playing game after game and I am starting to getting out. The guy I am staking comes into the room and he recognizes Joe from a tournament they played in a decade or so ago in Chicago and remind him that he had Joe down one game away from busting him when he missed a shot. That's when Joe launches a come back one game away from being busted and he ends up busting my friend. Joe is a great guy and has a great love for the game he is also a fantastic instructor. I live in Atlanta but I am making my plans to go see Joe asap.

I recommend anyone buy Joe's DVDs, and if you get a chance to work with him in person, DO IT!! He's a GREAT guy, and a wealth of knowledge. Quick little sidebar - he came up to the AZ room at the DCC and seemed a little peeved that he couldn't get a drink (it was after 2AM) - LOL. Luckily, Joe is only about an hour and a half from me, but for those who don't have such easy access to the man himself, the DVDs are a close 2nd (having both available to you is better though  ).

Nice Guy

Met Joe at DCC,I just wanted to say he is a great teacher and a very nice person.Good Luck with your DVD's worth buying even if you are a great player.Nothing but a ton of knowledge in it FastEddie F. saying it was a great pleasure meeting you see you at Valley Forge.
