Might want to try a new avatarI just caught the end of this so my assesment that may not be right but LJ went off on Tony and tiger for quitting after LJ wanted to play another set. Irate, yelling and screaming.
Actually water isn’t wetWater is wet.
That is all
Not to stir the pot, but I am curious on this....I don’t understand the whole “quit winner” dilemma. The goal is to win..... period. For what my opinion is worth....which is a minimal amount.......it’s gambling. Unless you have agreed in advance, either side should be allowed to walk away whenever they want. Why would a player get “upset”?

It's pretty standard to at least give some warning. Before the last set starts a, "This is the last set for me" at least gives the other player a chance to renegotiate before the end.Unless you have agreed in advance, either side should be allowed to walk away whenever they want.

Certainly there's a zone where the losing-er will just tie you up for too long?set the parameters before you start. then let the cry baby moan all he wants.
but in pool if nothing said most think you cant quit while ahead.
I've had shouting matches over just rules - no bet, just table rights. This brings to mind the futility of it all. Raising on a disagreement will win you trouble. You can find yourself on death row for being right. Or you can be a tool.John has the old school mentality when it come to gambling etiquette. He felt like he was treated unfairly and he voiced his opinion. As far as I could tell, it didn't seem he was out of line.

Unless you make it part of the agreement, say X matches for Y money guaranteed, then quitting after even one match is fair game. Sure, after 1 match is kind of weaksauce, but make the rules before the action or get played. Simple stuff. Not to stir the pot, but I am curious on this....I don’t understand the whole “quit winner” dilemma. The goal is to win..... period. Each side had their opportunity to get ahead.... even if only one set was played. If you failed, you failed.
I know that there are gambling purists who will disagree....and that’s okay. I respect their opinions....I just respectfully disagree. Would they give me action....maybe not. But I can promise that if they beat me but I felt good about the matchup and wanted to continue to play and they walked away, I would have zero issue with that.
If two guys match up for $1 or $1,000,000....they started with an equal opportunity to be the winner. If the goal is to be the “winner”, why should one feel obligated to continue to play once they earn that title? If both want to continue, fine. If either wants to quit, fine too.
Some will say nit. But that’s not the case. I am willing and have lost.
So often, the best “action“ players are completely broke and have nothing. Why....because they won’t stop. They won’t book a win and call it a day. Reminds me of my mother in law and casino slots....she refuses to quit ahead. Then she complains because she “lost”.
