Live Stream~Diamond Open 10 Ball Event at Valley Forge Live Now!

up to the top.....thank god for this feed.....and this site....first time in 7 years i had to miss VF......not a happy camper

Just tuned in, in time to see Dennis Hatch dog the nine ball at 8-9 in his match with Mika. If he gets out, it is hill-hill. Mika wins 10-8.

I was watching the match and I was trying to figure out where I would leave the cb for the 9, it was a easy shot on the 8 in the side but to me shape was going to be a little tricky on the 9. I would of played it about the same as Dennis, he didn't get bad shape he just had to cheat the pocket and hold the cb. I know the feeling only to well many times I will get the same results as Dennis did, the side pockets on my Diamond table play so much harder then my Olhausen that I almost predicted the miss. It is to bad I would have liked to see the match go hill hill.

I could not believe he missed that easy 9. Nerves?

Not so much nerves as doubts. As you could see, he couldn't make up his mind which way to go. He probably still had some doubts as he shot the ball, just enough of a distraction to miss it. He really wanted to go down to the end rail and back up for the ten. Why he changed his mind I have no idea, other than he didn't want to let the cue ball run.

Good observation, Jay. Interesting to see that even at this high level of shooting that they can make rudimentary mistakes.

I have done this same thing many times with the same result.

I keep reading in the books , your mind needs to be made up before you get in position for the shot. If you change your mind get up and regroup. I only learned this in the last few years and its true.

Cant say how many shots I dogged because of this over the years.

Hopefully Hatch will remember and try not to do it again. He is indeed a talented player.

thx
