Lockers

I want to put in lockers for customer cues and gear. Anyone have a place for me to look ?
Because of the unique shape of a locker to hold a pool cue case and little else, they generally need to be custom made - relatively simple for any trim carpenter or cabinet maker, if you give them the specs you desire.

Our lockers in our Poolroom were made by my late dad 28 years ago, are roughly an 8”x 8”x 36” opening and stacked from floor to 7’ off the floor. There are two rows of them - the back row is accessible/opens on the end and the front row opens on the front. They are lockable and the customer provides their own lock.

We do not charge any of our regular customers a rental fee for keeping their pool cues in our lockers, but we only provide them for our regulars. We take no responsibility/liability for anything stolen out of the lockers, but luckily that has never been a problem. The lockers are located in a very open part of the pool room, which would make it difficult for someone to break into one without being noticed.

I remember having a locker at my regular pool hall. It took me years on a waiting list to finally get it. I never kept a good cue in it, just a sneaky peat and various cue maintenance bits.

Eventually that place went out of business and another opened up across town. This pool hall was more fancy and had lockers available, but I didn't try to get one.

Then one day somebody broke in to the pool hall and stole all of the cues that were in the lockers. They took out the lockers the next week.

The place i go to has had lockers for years. Few if any issues. They did bust a bookie/coke slinger a few yrs ago and he was using his locker as a 'staging' location. Cops came in, popped it open and out came over $30G's and about a half pound of premium bolivian blow. ;)

My job uses something like this for customer orders. We put a lock on it that the code can change everytime. Your people will have to supply their own lock

Check with your insurance, I believe that if you charge rental you have to assume liability.
I agree with that too. But i remember from a storage unit it had years ago i was required to purchase insurance for that unit.

I've really only seen one pool hall that actually had lockers for cues. I've never played a a single pool hall enough for me to warrant leaving a cue there. But when i was working at a pool hall about 5-6 would leave their cue behind the counter.

Most serious players in our poolroom that have anywhere from $1k - $3k invested inside their pool cases prefer to keep them with them, as would I. The ones that utilize our lockers are the less serious players that have less $ invested in their equipment.

Get strong ones. Pool room on Modesto got hit in the late 80’s. Oddly enough only the expensive cues were taken-as if the thief had cased out the joint or had X-ray vision. They were recovered months later.

It’s a ok idea, however if I owned a pool room I wouldn’t want that liability, it extends beyond $ as a persons cue isn’t always just about price.
