The regular Loctite Gel in the lil blue bottle is great for tips as well. You can get it at most hardware stores like Lowes , Home Depot, or even your local mom and pops.
Hope this helps,

For tips, I've been using the new Gorilla CA. It's been formulated to provide greater impact resistance and is a little thicker than the Loctite. The Loctite however still has many uses in the shop.

Do a search here on the Gorilla. I remember at least one thread where it was discussed.

Me too. Its an outstanding CA that has some rubber in the formula for impact strength. I really like it. That being said....Loctite has a new Ultra Gel like Dave Sutton uses except it is a "rubber" toughened formula as well for more "durable" bonds. I like it very well too. Main difference is the Locktite is only a 4gram bottle where as for only $5 the Gorilla is a 20gram bottle. The new rubber formulas seem to be ideal for tip adhesives.

tip glue

Thank you all for the info.
I'm going to try the Gorilla CA.
Seems like a state of the art Adhesive.

Ater light sanding the ferrrule & tip, I use utility knife to
cut very light groves in both surfaces ( pockets for the glue )

Is this a good practice or a waste of time?

Allways looking for info. to improve the process!!!

I want the best bond of ferrule/tip I can get.

I love az billiards..........great info.............great buys..........
....entertaining flame wars..........pick minds of the great cue makers
for info....................learn what not to do ( EW ) ha!......
aiming systems to check out..........great reviews & pictures of cues....

It just keeps going and going .........no end to all the good stuff

I use 80 grit paper.

Use a tip pick on the glue side of the tip if you want a pocket for the glue.
Carving it with a utility knife doesn't sound good. You might carve a finger.

I recommend just scuffing the back of the tip lightly, then its ok to use the blade to score a few light circles on the ferrule face. Then for the best bond...use the Dennis Searing method and allow a light film of the CA to dry on both the tip back & ferrule face. This primes the surfaces and you don't have to worry about some tips soaking up too much of your adhesive. You can then very lightly scuff/score both surfaces again and then glue it up. Since using this method....I've yet to have a single tip pop off. Its the best bond possible. Thank you Mr. Searing.

i have tubes of Aron Alpha gel for sale for $20 shipped.they are 20 gr tubes and it is medical grade CA.it is the strongest super glue i could find, with bond strengths close to 6000psi on metal where most super glues are around 4000psi.

i have 4 left and the have been refrigerated since i bought them.
