Okay so I haven't played pool in a few months, decided to head down to a pool hall the other day for the first time in a while and got into some cheap 1P action... I needed all of them, this layout came up.
You tell me what you would do, or what you think I did, and I'll come back later and let you guys know.
(ps I have the top pocket)

There's so much defensive play in 1P that the overall outcome could be a million different things. But in this instance I would try a bank on the 2 and draw the CB back to near the jaws of his pocket...

Meh, it doesn't look right here but you get the idea...

CueTable Help

I obviously dog the 9 next :)

I actually thought thaT was it, but figured you'd shoot th 2 2nd (coz I saw it being hit at 45mph...)

Good shot.Got to love 1 pocket for creativity. What to do there probably depends on your aponent but I like the shot despite the risk of losing the CB.

Below are my thoughts:

You must have been playing cheap
You are very aggressive and have huge skills
You hate your backer and like sleeping in the street (credit to Danny DiLiberto on this one)

Nice Shot

1. cheepy cheepy $20 with a guy I get along with.
2. Very timid and I don't have any skills; computer hacking skills, nun-chuck skills, nothing.
3. If I ever had a backer HE would be sleeping in the streets :D

yup, way too aggressive a shot. Bank the two and pull back, and be aware of leaving the bank on the two.

not me

If you bank the 2 and draw back there is a good chance you give up a high % back cut bank followed by a easy shot on the 1 ball.

If you make the 2 ball you can move the 1.

If you miss the bank on the 2 and are lucky enough not to leave the bank you allow your opponent a chance to bury you.

Banking the 2 is an OK shot imo depending on the ball count and your opponent but if I do this I want to stop the CB behind the 1 leaving a funny angle bank on the 1 and hiding the 2.

Very creative shot, AZE. You needed them all, so you had to get something going. Did you hit the CB with straight high english? The two balls may not have been laying right for a 2-railer on the deuce.

Doc

Iwouldn't shoot that crazy shot of the 2 rail on the 2. But I would one rail the 2 and leave a tough bank on the one if I missed the 1 railer. If , I make the 2 then I cut the 1 to my hole and bring the cueball back to play the up table balls.---Smitty

I think the best shot in my intermidiate level of 1 pocket is to bank the two pocket speed. The PRIORITY is FREEZING the cueball to the one. The two ball will be near the hole, and the opponent will have a hard time playing safe on his next shot. In fact, I think the opponent will be very likely to sell out both the 2 and then a bank on the 1 on his next shot. This shot as I describe is very likely to need one more inch angle on the cue ball as it lays. But it is hard to know without actually being at teh table.
