Walked in and there was a huge fight going on. This one guy (I think his name is John Barton) was beating another guy over the head with a cue case saying; See you silly bastard, my cues wont fall out of my case even when I hit you over the head with it. Shots were fired, knives pulled, ninja stars and Nunchaku were flying everywhere. Teargas, snipers, bomb squad, homeland security.....even the Dollar General guy was holding this crazed lunatic off some old lady that said she can build a cue case better.......

Well, after all that, they hauled the little old lady to jail because she was wanted by the Vice Squad, we finally got to play some pool....I tell ya, Never a dull moment with John Barton!

Sung (SK Custom Cues) and myself met John Barton, his lovely wife, and man-O-man....such a sweet, beautiful daughter. John is truely a blessed man for having such a lovely family. Talked cues, cases, and just enjoyed being able to meet him...seen a couple of his cases and just had a great time with John and Sung.

Thanks John for allowing me to meet you and your family, it was truly and honor meeting you!

Shawn

ftgokie...Do you know how long JB is in town for? I'll be in the Tulsa area tomorrow night, and thought I might stop in to Magoo's myself! I'd love to meet up with John...it's been awhile.

He is leaving tomorrow. He went back to OKC. I guess we shoulda posted meet up with John Barton thread, but I was only thinking about local guys. Sorry Scott. I will post publicly about the next time an AZer comes this way.

It was nice meeting John. I think John is a real nice guy who 'shoots a good stick'! He definitely is a gentleman and knows a thing or two about the pool industry. He is a great person to know.

John, I wish you all the best.

Its an action magnet is what it is....walk into a pool hall with that on your shoulders, and your getting the breaks and the 6

That was one of John Bartons first cases he made....he will be able to elaborate more on that case...it is a super nice case though

I am glad you guys showed up when you did - that old lady was kicking my ass with Gabe's Justis case. Gabe was standing there laughing his ass off......

It was a good time and thanks for the games. I am glad that you got to meet Karen and Jessie as well.

I am sure you guys will have a great time at Gabe's One Pocket tournament.

For CC:

The pink and green case is one of the first cases we ever made. I did all the emboidery on with the exception of the nine-ball rack which is a patch that I embroidered around to inlay it into the pocket. It is made of Hornschuch upholstery grade vinyl. This one was ordered and then not picked up so I gave it to my dad as he wanted an example of my work. It has been in his closet since 1993 housing a McDermott Cue.

Back then I did all the design and cut all the parts and did all the patterns and did all the embroidery.

Looks like you guys had fun. That case looks like a GTF, very nice case. John, your bridge hand looks alot like mine!

You guys quit giving John a hard time........we did implement a 3strike and you go sit in the corner rule with John.....He kept trying to hit the cue ball and we would say 1 in unison....then 2, then 3 and your out.....needless to say...John just sat and watched me and Sung play all night

Shawn, are you the BIG BOY or the guy in the red shirt?

Great pictures of John. He hasn't aged a day since I last saw him. Beautiful baby, btw.

This was a cool thread.

Scott will be in OKC tomorrow... Tell him where to find John out there.

If we'd known, we'd have been glad to meet him, too. We've got a grandson being born tomorrow morning, so our lives are revolving around all the hustle and bustle for that, right now.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Barton at a GSBT stop in Hickory, NC. This was before they made the tour an all amateur tour. We warmed up on the same table and talked cases, pool and other things in general. I had just purchased a Murnak case about 8 months previously, which he noticed right away, and we discussed that as well. I would have to say though, after meeting John and talking, I'm MUCH more inclined to purchase my next case from him, as much as I love my Murnak. It's always nice to be able to reference personal experience with someone on a face to face level. That, and he made a case for my friend and fellow AZB'er Muttley76 which came out beautiful. Deffinitely made a believer out of me.

Will keep that in mind for next time. I am sorry you guys slipped my mind due to the fact we've never met.
