Am I blind or is Fedor not on the list? Going to go cross-eyed rereading this over and over...
It would be nice if they could put it in alphabetical order. I do not see his name either.

Somebody wrote on Window's Open this about Fedor: "I heard Fedor is working on some health issues and that's why he's not playing PLP or Euro Open."

Snooker star Gary Wilson is on it. Yay! I like him.

They managed to fill the 256-player field. I think that means I get to play some champion the first round.

Sanjin said he was getting a lot of messages when the change of venue was announced. He has (or is associated with?) two or three rooms there.

Lovely how they post the list to facebook only, and not wnttv.com, where we actually PAY to see such things.

Obviously, this is very good news.

It's also a reminder of what a "can do" organization Matchroom is. They understand that having all the best players eligible to play the Matchroom majors makes theirs a superior product to any event that excludes any of the top players on political grounds. As they have so often in the past, Matchroom is about to give us a field of almost mind-blowing quality.

Let's hope this is the start of better times for the players. One must read into this news that these players have assurances that WPA will not ban them from sanctioned events as a result of their participation in a Matchroom event.

Now we need to take the next step forward, which is to see the end of the "ban of the 245" that came after the Hanoi Open. When that happens, the good times will start to roll again for both the players and the fans. WPA, Predator and Matchroom will, similarly, benefit from it because the prospects for global growth in the game will, once again, be very bright.

The European Open is the first major of the year on the global 9ball calendar and my level of excitement for its onset just grew quite a bit.

PS Josh Filler vs Bob Jewett in the final would be fun.

not sure but fedor's been doing stem cell treatment before for his scoliosis, i suspect it's something like that.

Whatever it is, Fedor is a headliner of the highest possible order and his absence will be felt. Wishing him well as he navigates the road to perfect health.

Your optimism is inspiring. Thanks for the upbeat view of our close knit world.

A lot of players in Asia were complaining about the cost of it all. Some Taiwanese friends won't attend, some will. Many shared some group chats with lots of grumblings in.
It appears to be less expensive than the US Open. Maybe they couldn't find good airfare on short notice.

I think airfare, hotels, entry fees and the other expenses incurred are starting to bother some of the fringe players who are part of bigger groups of dedicated traveling players.

Here's one comment from a friend I thought wouldn't go, but I see his name on the list. A few from his group that usually get about are not on the list.

I won't post any of the other group things, as I can't be bothered to cross out names and red line stuff. But I do often see players complaining about costs (even close by events).

I was tempted to throw my name in the hat, but it doesn't line up with any working vacation that I have, and I'm saving my sick days.

Yes, it would, but we're much more likely to meet in the first round. I don't think he can get through to the finals. 😉

My actual goal is to do better than Barry.
You definitely will. I caught his act the last time he competed. I think I could beat him, and I know you can beat me. :)

Looks like they signed up every local pool player that they could, maybe you will get easy pickings ;)

Sky is also absent. The top half of the list are in order of seed. Sky is #15 right after Wiktor Zielinski.
