I have been flirting with the idea of getting one of these for awhile now. Any good suggestions or offers? Thanks in advance!

Longoni makes a good one, but as with most it will not fit in most cases. Be very careful to understand how it works or it could scratch cue. Put cue in and twist knurled part of ext. Make sure others know how it works before loaning it out. I bought mine for $50 in Vegas.

How about a break cue with built in extension? I have a Stealth cue for $110 delivered.

Tony Ryan..$31.95..love mine..its the 17.5 inch..and it fits in a cue hole in my 3x5 case..SA

Tony Ryan Pool Cue Extensions are in a class by themselves, just like the original Tony Ryan. Whether you are a money player like Tony, or someone who enjoys snooker, eight ball, ten ball or any other game, you know you need a cue extender you can trust for grip and accuracy.

The Tony Ryan Pool Cue Extension comes in two sizes, 17.5" and 12.5"--choose the size that meets your style of play. Each size is finished wood construction with a cushioned insert for a snug fit. No more loose plastic cue extenders falling off at an important moment.

The 12.5 inch edition of the Tony Ryan is a great way to avoid using a bridge, yet keep your shot accuracy. The finished wood construction provides years of durability. The quality grip means no unexpected surprises with a loose extender during your shot.

Why settle for a plastic imitator when you can have this quality, natural wood pool cue extender. Cushioned insert protects your pool cue and provides for a sure grip. No more aggravation with cue extenders that fall off your stick. Our finished wood construction will provide years of improved shooting accuracy.

My cushioned insert became loose and "balled-up" inside the receptacle during the first week I owned mine :(.

I took some 2"L x 1/2"W pieces of dense foam rubber and glued them into the receptacle. I then took a short, black nylon sock (clean of course ) and worked it into the receptacle (using a butt of a cue) and rolled the top of the sock over the edge of the receptacle and taped it down with black tape. It actually works BETTER than the original extender's cushioned insert.

I also have a Longoni, which I also like. The Tony Ryan is easier to use and cannot scratch your cue (especially after the way I fixed it), but the Longoni feels more like you're holding a cue butt in your hand, and if used properly, will not scratch your cue.

The Longoni cue extender bites the big one

This weekend in the middle of a tournament I could not get the Longoni off. I twisted and turned - wore my arms out. Recruited others in the pool hall to give it a whirl. I then went and got a house cue and on the first shot I miscued. God I was so hot that I would have banged the maker of the Longi over the head.

After the match I finally got it off by moving the cue sideways back and forth. The I threw the MF***er directly into the trashcan.

DO NOT BUY A LONGONI FOR ANY REASON, unless you want to give it to your opponent to try out.

I had this happen one time when I let a buddy borrow it. He screwed it down way to tight. Took some doing but finally got it unscrewed. It works just fine with a minimal amount of torque.

Funny thing is, I have both a Tony Ryan AND a Longoni and I rarely use either one. Most of the time I just reach for the mechanical bridge.

When the rubber inserts in my Tony Ryan extender "balled-up" on me the first week I had it, I was ready to throw it into the sh*tcan too. Now that I fxed it, it works better than when new.
