Have cue will travel

Does anyone have any AAA maple shaft blanks? I am wanting to put a new shaft on a cue to break with. preferably larger than 13.25 for that is what I would like the shaft to be at the final diameter.

Thank you,

I don't know

I like quality items and am willing to pay for them. Also it will be my cue that I take with me on vacation. sooooo its more than a break cue :)))

not really sure

I think its the grade of wood that the "wood know it all person" labels it. like if you went to the lumber store and bought ply wood their are different grades of ply wood to buy.

I am sure some one will chime in and educate us.

So I order a fillet mignon steak and my waitress asks, "why would you want a steak when you can get just as much protein from a burger?". I explain that I prefer the flavor, quality of meat, and I want it cooked med-rare. To that she replies, "what's your definition of med-rare?", in a condescending tone as if I am clueless to what I actually want. At that point I politely remove myself from the restaurant while the owner & staff all complain about not being able to make money in that business. If she had simply given me what I asked for without badgering & belittling me, I would have returned again and again and again to spend money there.

I doubted they have moved to the meat business :)

The point is, people want what they want, and no amount of logic or evidence will sway them, once they have developed their perceptions.
Thinking we need to worry about getting enough protein is a perfect example...

Do a google search for "AAA maple shaft". You'll find a plethora of cue makers, cue dealers, billiard supply stores, shaft suppliers, etc. all describing their shafts as "AAA". If this guy has done any online searching or shopping for pool cues then he has seen that good shafts are graded "AAA". Logically, when he comes to the forum searching for a cue maker willing to make him a good shaft for his break cue, the terminology he will use is "AAA". It's not his job to define a term our industry created.

6 years ago I brought a board of hard maple from a lumber store in Pa.
I asked for straight grained maple. Most of what I have seen since then, has not been as good since. I saw a picture of a supplier with what was supposedly their top end of what they sell. Only 1 piece in the picture would be about the same. So there is a lot of luck to get good pieces of wood.

AAA boards cost $5 more the A board .
AAA boards are for suckers unless the supplier has AAA reputation.
Good luck with that .

p.s.
