Does anybody know of a supplier for the 1/2 by 1/2 inch chrome plastic grid like used in pool lights (diamond) or in office buildings, elevators. I am going to build my pool table light myself since I cannot afford the $1000 light to match my diamond table. Leonard

Call Home Depot ect.see if they can special order.they come in chrome and gold (brass)....they are out there or you can use chrome spray paint that has a great finish..Good luck Leonard...:)

You can also call any good sized electrical supply place. They are called 1/2" paracube lenses for flourescent fixtures and they may run anywhere from $25-$45 each for a 2'x4'. Call around to see who has a couple in stock. You should also be able to order them 1' x 6' or 1' x 4'.

When you are handling them, you may want to wear a pair of light gloves to keep from getting fingerprints on them.

Whatever the price might be, they are the bomb when it comes to spreading the light on the table without all the glare from above.

Good Luck!

You'll find it in the Building section under ceiling grids ~$24 for the 2x4 It is not in the electrical section.

Lowes

I bought mine at Lowes,it was the last one they had and had a corner broke.I asked the guy at the counter about it & he marked it down to $3

Lowes & Home Depot only sell fake plastic garbage.... the ones you want are called Parobolic Lenses (THERE IS A DIFFERENCE)

They diffuse the light nice without any glare. The problem is cleaning the grid. You have to be sure not to touch them with you bare hands as the finger prints will attract dust and you cannot clean the oil off. I would advise not buying from Lowes or HD for that reason. When you do buy them make sure they are in a plastic sleeve and always wear gloves when handling.

The other problem you will have is people wanting to touch them. For some reason people always want to stick their finger into the hole or have to touch the grid.

This is the stuff you want... the holes at the top are smaller then the holes at the bottom, when the light shines through the top small hole it reflects side to side until it gets to the bottom It basically does the same thing a Flashlight does

How much? Is this the stuff they use in hospitals etc.?

Same as in Hospitals & Offices and like somebody said they are about $40 for a 2x4 panel. They come with all different size holes. 1/2" or 3/4" is best for a Pool table

Click here: Outwater Plastics 2006 Master Catalog - page 584
Looking at the pics on that page they are not real.... meaning that inside the holes is straight up and down,. Real Parabolics holes go up at an angel like a Pyramid

Thanks guys and they do say parabolic louvers in the outwater plastic catalog and I like the price so I'll call monday and check out all three options. Leonard
