Well Azers i need your help, I love this game I really do(I keep telling myself that) and im wondering how I can find the love that i use to have for this game and get it back. This sport has giving alot to me( Commentating the Clash Of The Titans for Inside Pool, Streaming and Commentating Last years Canadian Championships,) and i love the game for it, but lately my head has not been in it.(Losing a match when being up 4-0,shooting the wrong ball and so on.So I ask myself "Self do I really want do do this anymore" or is the problem between my ears. I know that some of you have gone through this and I would like to know how you got out of it. Thanks AZers!!!!

Try taking a break from pool for a few weeks. You will be able to tell if you still love it or not by how bad you want to get back on the table. Love the Clash of the Titians.

The times I've done stuff like that (shooting wrong ball more than once, etc.) I just wasn't that interested in the game at the time and I had other stuff on my mind. If you have any other issues (squabbles at home, work, money stress, etc.) then that's probably stealing your focus.

If your life is hunky dory and you still can't focus on pool, you may be playing in an environment that's different from the pool you environment you used to love... maybe not the same friends, different game, different pool room, some matchup you're not confortable with.

Taking a break is a very good idea.

Totally take yourself out of the environment - no pool hall trips, no forums, no youtube videos, etc.

After a time (for some a week or two, for others a couple months),the lure of the game will reassert itself and you'll be ready to get back in.

Over the last 20 years, I have taken breaks for a couple weeks and up to three months.

In my experience, when I play several games in a row, I get zoned in.. almost like tunnel vision. My mind blocks out everything around the table and I'm completely focused on the game. But when I start missing shots that should have been easy, or just playing stupid, its kinda like I'm snow blind. I have to back away, and let go of that focus and watch a few games from a distance. I'm not completely leaving, but I'm giving my mind a break and relaxing some. Sometimes I just need to take a break, get something to drink and socialize some. Standing further back, I can watch my opponents play, see their shots, their strengths and weaknesses against others and come up with ways to use it against them. Once I'm relaxed and have seen a few mistakes, it makes me eager to get back in the zone and terrorize who ever wants to challenge me.

I've taken a hiatus or two from pool during the past 5 or 6 years, but it wasn't because my love for the GAME had waned. No, it was the PEOPLE in the game I had to get away from. Arrogant, cocky, rude, cheating persons with a self-imposed over-rating of their abilities to the game of pool are just some of the reasons I have to get away from time to time.

Then I come on here (AZB) where I'm inudated with crap from name-dropping, nuthugging, my-way-or-the-highway type of people whose opinion is the only one that matters :sorry:.

I guess that's just the nature of pool. I've never seen attitudes this bad in any other endeavor I've been involved with, and there's been plenty of them.

The game in and of itself is BEAUTIFUL. It just needs a makeover with it's contestants.

I hope you find your peace with the game and realize that it's a good and wonderful thing to partake of. Just try to see it as a puzzle before you that must be solved, regardless of mistakes, lapses of concentration, easy misses, and less-than-courteous opponents. And by all means, take a break from it and re-assess what you want to get out of it and make the necessary adjustments to get yourself to that point.
