I think the grass come with it for $1450.
I don't think it's worth $14.
Some people need reality check.
 
I wonder what the spindle bore is
Looks like it would make a good repair lathe, tips, ferrules, etc.
 
You know. Not that long ago I found quite a few good deals on nice equipment.

Powermatic 66 5hp: 400.00 after I replaced arbor bearings
Jet 10 inch cabinet saw 400.00 needed nothing
IR T30 compressor with Baldor motor 600.00 needed nothing amazing condition
Sharp TMV mill with power drawbar and Servo PF on XY 400.00 needs some work, but well worth that price.
A Phase Perfect pt-330(the older blue one) 600.00 like new(35 amps of three phase running through shop)
5 Lista counter height cabinets and 2 72x30 butcher blks 525.00 total in nice condition
Albrecht chuck 60.00 new
There have been a few others, but you see my point.

Over the last year or so I've seen more people ask more money for more junk than all the previous years I've been hawking CL and Ebay.

BTW, I'm selling my jointer if anyone is interested.. Asking 800.00OBO

That might be true not sure what scrap prices are right now but I would guess that lathe might be 2 tons. I was at a machinery auction once and they couldn't get one bid on some old horizontal mills finally the gave them away and some old farm boys took them out I'm sure they where sold for scrap iron.
 
I really just wanted it so when I got bored I could turn it on slow and sit on the chuck, round and round we go.

I think it wood make an excellent outdoor decoration for a machine shop or cue maker. Wire brush it, paint in all gloss black, and put your business name & phone number on the flat face below the bed. The ole lady can put flowers pots on it as well.

I'll offer $3 dollars if he'll ship it to Maryland :rotflmao:

That listing is in Lost Angeles CA.
The idea of Craigslist is to post the price high knowing the buyers is going to offer half or less.... You see... If the poster only asked a few dollars or a few hundred the buyers would low ball the offers,so if the seller offers to sell it at $1400 he'll be happy when someone offers $100-$500 for it.
Anyone with the machinery,time and know how could clean that beast up and use it as intended or modify her for a purpose.

Fixtures and such made out of old lathe beds are very popular in shops around the globe.
I've made tooling to use the ways of my lathe along with a fixture mounted in to align the ears with the main tube and plug assembly when replacing machinist level glass vials but I'd love to have a lathe bed set aside just for that purpose instead of having to remove/setup fixture all the time like I do now.... I can think of a few good uses for her, after I clean ol Betsy up a little and slather her with lube she'd be good to go.

I'd bet she is old production machinery used to make war equipment... You all should salute to her'
Ernie built all of his cue building equipment from old war era machinery, you never know... This could be out back of the ginacue shop!!

Either way, I like it.

That is news to me. All the stuff I bought and sold wasn't advertised that way. I guess that is the "new" strategy and why all the junk is priced way too high.

You do have a bit of a point though. I tried to price my jointer fair and have gotten all sorts of really low, and ridiculous, offers...
