McDermott, Viking, Schmelke??
I too would like to see these names on the list. Not sure if you can get a quality McDermott or Viking for under $100, but Schmelke has something to offer.

I remember driving past the McDermott factory (just north of milwaukee) and seeing a sign about some cues under $100. Not sure if it's a "go to the factory to get them, slightly imperfect: cues or not, but I'd love to have seen them on this list as well.

You might be able to pick up a new McDermott on eBay for under a hundo, but you can for sure find some from $100-$150.

maybe even one like mine...(not just some painted cue).

Only thing I would go with under a bill is a Schmelke. Their shafts of 100 compare to the shaft of a viking or mcdermott of comparable price are much better. Schmelke 100 shafts feel as good or even better than a 200 viking or mcdermott. This is just MHO. I'd like to suggest GW cues as well for the price range. Much better than players, action and etc.

I don't think the vikings and mcdermott mass produced cues have very much difference in shafts from their low to mid ended cues. Maybe their $1000+ cues, but I doubt they change shaft wood between their $80-$350 cues.

I agree totally though, for under a buck, Schmelke provides the most solid cue of all.

I have seen some Scorpion and Cuetecs on pooldawg for under $100 :rotflmao1:

This is my sense of sarcasm, because I hate Cuetecs and Sorpions due to the fiber feel of the shaft ewww :thud:

You can't get a quality stick from any of the ones the list either.

I paid right at $100 for my Lightweight 16oz schmelke and I was testing out a few 200 viking and mcdermotts while I was shopping around, but the schmelke shaft seemed way smoother and to me hits more solid. But it also comes down to personal preference as well. My brother has a Viking and he loves it, a G01 19oz. I like it as well, but it is too heavy for me. I like the way the shaft of a schmelke felt compare to his viking.

Funny that it is that cue.

Lucasi, new at GameroomUSA, 79.99 Here. or 99.99 Here.
Just what I said. One cue under $100 and at that a rather old tried and true design.;):lmao: :killingme:

I agree, rackem.

sometimes one goes for less than $100 on fleabay, but it usually has defect/damage.

the Players model S-PSPR sneaky is only $60.99 retail and they shoot fine and are not a great loss if it breaks or is stolen in some less than stellar pool event.

d_flash....lost a few cues before

Could you offer a suggestion for a "quality" cue under $100.
If McDermott, Viking, Schmelke or any of the cues listed on the poll are not quality, than what is? Under $100?
I'm sticking with the Schmelke suggestion.

Being a college student made me pretty familiar with cheaper end cues, and I have been looking all around for a cue that is good for around 100 and the schmelke is what I like the best. Unless you are spending about $200+ on a viking or mcdermott, the cue just doesn't feel as solid and smooth as the schmelke. Also, I say try it before you buy it. That is the reason why I try to stay away from buying cues online. For example, let's say you want to buy a $350 McDermott which is a pretty reasonable price, given you have four McDermotts, same weight, same shaft diameter and same tip size, just different models, they will all shoot different.

Than again, I don't know much and am a newbie, so just take it as MHO, There are plenty of AZ members that shoot with cues that cost more than my left arm. :o

+1 for Schmelke

Happy Shooting all! :)

Good Thread

I posted a similar thread in the wanted/for saled because I am looking for an inexpensive thread for a fellow player on my team.

I have been looking at the palmers and kaisers on ebay, checking out some of the cheaper lucasi, mcdermotts, players, ect.

There are some good recomendations in my thread and I find this one of interest. I am not voting in the poll , I think it is too limiting on choice.

I would go for the best sneaky I could find for the money (The Rat cue) personally but my friend has always used house cues and I am getting the impression that he wants a bit more flash in the look.

Would you think a better construction and better quality wood would be found in a decal or import inlay on the $100 budget?

I would hope that they would spend some more on better materials when saving by using decals or overlays opposed to true inlays. (Like the low line Fury mebe)

My heart tells me they are going to save even more and use cheaper materials when using decals and overlays

(Because they don't really care as much about the product)

I like the lean towards Schmelke, lots of builders like to use their blanks. I would like more info on quality of modern adam and palmer cues also.
