LP Custom Cues

Are the blind faithful, not seeing what I saw in just the first few posts? Initial communications are fine, as long as the sale is in process. What about 3 months, 6 months later? Everyone says the same thing. They seem clueless. Do the math. Over 7K just in raffle sales this year, and no completed cues posted. Hello? 100% up front. Like I said in earlier posts, a novel idea for the average guy to try to win one. But a method of doing business? Most cuemakers do not require 100%, and most keep their customers feeling like customers, not keeping them in the dark.

If you have a problem with the way i do business, then you don't have to order a cue from me. You can move along to another cuemaker.
If you have a problem with me personally, then give me a call.

One more thing...I do not require full payment up front. On custom orders I require about 50% down. As far as the raffle payment is concerned, there isn't anyother way to do it. The raffles are something I do to help people out that couldn't ordinarily afforda custom cue. Maybe I shouldn't have anymore if there are people complaining and not telling me.
Im not going to defend myself against uninformed accusations that are unfounded.

I found the line of communication to be just fine. The initial emails are needed to ensure that none of the details are missed. After that, Lee works on the cues. I've found that Lee will answer a question usually the same day.

Just because a person wins a partially built cue in a raffle doesn't mean that you don't have to take your place in line time wise for completion.

Many cues are worked on in a day. Its pretty hard for a cue maker to peg down the exact day, hour and minute for a customer.

Probably no loss as it seems this guy might need a daily affirmation on the cues progress.

Ok it is no secret that I am an fan of Lee's work. However I am a little suspicious to this thread. I am not just jumping to Lee's deffense here because I know he can do that himself. But I am speaking out more so to the way this is being handled here. This is just my opinion and I am standing by it. I believe the OP is not who he says he is. When this thread started he had 12 posts total and 0 itrader. However when I read through the thread he writes as though he has been here for awhile and knows the forum quite well. Example looking up all the previous auctions Lee has run etc. I believe the OP is not a new member by any means but another member masking himself. This is pretty sad and a very coward like way to handle a situation. If you have a question, comment, concern etc about LP CUSTOM CUES then contact Lee and tell him. Playing this game in a round about way like this is childlike and does nothing but start negativity. If I am wrong then fine. I will eat my crow gladly But I am pretty sure I am close to understanding what is going here.

i had lee make me a shaft. it came out nice, communication was excellent and delivery was about a week faster than he originally told me. I would do business with him again.

and fwiw, i think the raffles are a really cool idea for azer's to have a chance to win a custom cue. I actually wish more cuemakers were doing this.

What happened, you started off this thread sounding like you really wanted to hear about LP Custom cues and his customer's experiences with him. I understand that you may be fearful in trusting a cue maker with your money but Lee hasn't shown from what I've seen and/or heard any reason to doubt him on that front or on whether or not he's doing the work he agrees to do on a custom cue build. Additionally, there's no requirement to post all the cues he makes based on raffles on AZB. I'm sure there are a lot of cues that people have chosen not to post pictures for online as they don't want their design out there to be copied.

I'm not sure where you are finding that there's a problem working with Lee on an LP Custom procured either from a raffle or a private order? If I go by the information in the thread I see happy customers waiting on a cue makers well understood and time proven process. There is a 6 to 7 month completion time for his cues and from what I've heard he usually finishes cues earlier than stated. I think if you have a problem with Lee you should take it up with him. He's been upfront with me about how he works and what to expect of progress pictures and time to completion. Best yet he's almost always an email or phone call away if you want to know where things are.

I just got an update today on the status of my cue (via email). It should be completed very soon and I can hardly wait to see and play with the cue.

Very well made and reasonably priced.
Allways answered my pms,e-mails or phone calls in a timely manner.
Was alittle while longer to build than quoted but not too bad.

Great looking Hoppe, love how close the bottom of the points are.

What is funny is the more I read this post the more I feel I made a good decision ordering an LP Custom. I took the plunge because I like the work that I have seen through various pictures and because I didn't really see any negative feedback either. I have a feeling I'll be happy and surprised when I get my cue.

Keywords being "pictures", and "when". Are there any finished 2010 cues to show? Just asking. No opinions being made here.

Lead time estimates and communication with all these posters seems to be somewhat of an issue. If I spend money, I would wish to be contacted periodically. None of these guys know anything about the status of their recent orders, to a man. Going to look elsewhere. Have had several recommendations, and will followup on them.

I'm not sure what your problem is.
You already said you were going to "look elsewhere", so why dont you do so.
You have another thing coming if you think I will build you a cue now.
Your insinuations are insulting, uninformed and getting old.
My name and phone number are below, why dont you be a man and show yours. I would gladly give you a call.
Like I said before, if you dont like me and/or the way I do business, move on.

This is obviously a thread only intended to bash me.
Mr. Pilegis showed a cue marked 2010. Thats one. There are many, many others.
If it becomes necessary for me to post all of the cues marked 2010, I will do so.
It's pretty clear, if you look at this persons posts, that he has something against me.
All he has to do is look in the gallery. I've posted quite a few this year.
That's what makes me think this is someone who only has one thing in mind.

Juggernaut74 is obviously a member in disguise here. This thread is lame and serves no purpose other than to badmouth Lee for no apparent reason. I am sure the intelligence of our community will see through this. Why someone would start a blatant attack on a cue maker in this fashion is beyond me. Just man up and call the guy for god's sake if you have an issue. Playing a game like this on the forum is in real poor taste. Also if you have to post something on the forum like this then just come out and say what your thinking and stop beating around the bush. My god man this isn't facebook or twitter.

Lame

I am not sure what the problem is, but I wanted to chime in as a satisfied customer. Did I get my cue instantly, no. If I wanted a cue right then I would have bought a used one or a production one.

If I remember right, it took a little longer because you had to take a lot off the butt, and you wanted to do it right.

Lee, thanks for taking the time to make me a really nice cue, I have enjoyed shooting with it a lot, it even looks nice as a bonus!

Being that it is the end of 2010, I expect mine should be ready sometime in 2011. I'm in no rush. I have 7 other custom cues, some I bought new, some I bought used from others. I just bought another cue from a member here on AZB in addition to the LP Custom I have on order. I honestly don't feel any anxiety waiting for this cue to be done. It will be a good surprise for me when its finished. I haven't really given it much more thought once the order was put in. Like I said, I already bought another cue, and if I feel a need to have something new again before I get the LP Custom I'll probably just buy another one. There are a couple of cues I'm looking to add to my inventory (I don't call it a collection because I play with them all routinely) so that will keep me busy.

Repeatedly, it's the same response. Defensive attitudes, name calling via PM, but the fact remains for all of you who do not seem to see clearly. If, I as a maker, selling cues via a raffle, had progress to show, I would post it in the cue gallery section. I would contact these individuals and keep them updated. I would treat them as though they are customers who did, in fact, pay 100% up front, collectively. But as individuals, just a small amount invested. This is the inherant problem with raffles. The seller feels as though since the individual has very little invested, that they are somehow less of a customer. In addition, Itrader generally does not come into play with a raffle cue. Also, by nature, there is no legal bounds in which a winner can rely on. All a plus for the seller, who, holding the $, has complete control over what transpires. The time for defensive responses is over. ANYone who can show off their won cue, or actual progress toward completion is urged to do so now. These are observations, not opinions. The only correct response to these points should be positive, and based in fact, not mere pics of parts. Are there any takers? I have contacted several early winners, going back to March, of 2010. None of them know more than the guy who won last week. Lee, it's time to tell us all how much work has been put into these cues, or just stop raffling them until you do.

While I have never had a transaction with Lee I have friends who have purchased his cues giving rave reviews as to their performance. So, it must be duely noted as well they mentioned nothing of his communication with them so I am to believe it was clear and appropriate. The question looming here is why you have singled LP out to question his line of communication with his customers when you haven't had any transaction with him yourself.

You, sir, need to get a grip and lay off this gentleman who has the utmost integrity regarding his business practices stated by his customers who have posted in this thread. If you have an axe to grind then, by all means, grind away. Otherwise, your backhanded attempt to promote distrust and to diminish his credibility here is unwarranted and therefore, unwelcome.

However, if this is your way of interviewing a cuemaker and his customers to see if he meets your percieved bill of rights as a custom cue customer then you may want to develop a better game plan. Hence, this one is not tactful, tasteful, or for that matter, effective.

Have a nice day!!

Gary
