Luckiest shot I was beat with

hang-the-9

This just happened last night and I think was probably the luckiest combination of occurances to happen against me to make a ball in.

Anyone else have funky shot stories that left their mouth hanging in the "WTH just happened there" position?

This is called 9-ball, guy calls the 1-9 from across the table after the break, totally misses the 9 with the 1. 1 kicks off the raill behind into the 9, which gets pushed towards the cueball wich is traveling with follow after hitting the 1, which hits the 9 right into the pocket he called. ARGHHH!

Note table not exactly to scale as to where the balls were.

Nope :p:grin-square:, he was a little teenager C- player who made it half-way into the brackets of a pretty tough local tournament filled with B and A players. Apparantly on shots like this  hehe

Game before this he missed a ball-in hand. But managed to make a tough 9 ball bank I left him, dead center pocket. Oh well, I lost the game that got him to the break to be able to get lucky, play good, you don't lose. Races to 2 don't help though.

This happened to me a month or so ago: I was playing 8-ball in my BCA league. I shot all my balls in and had left the 8-ball literally hanging in the jaws of a corner pocket. My opponent, a woman I have know for some time and one that has a reputation as being "lucky as hell" was shooting at her last object ball. She missed it and I'll be damned if she didn't leave her last object ball right smack in the middle of the short rail and the cue ball pocket-hooked (yes, she came THAT close to scratching) in the opposite corner pocket on the same short rail where the 8-ball sat in the jaws of the pocket :(. Nothing I could do but to one-rail kick the 8-ball in length-of-table. Well, I shot it as soft as I possibly could have. Made the 8-ball and 'ol whitey followed it right in of course! Damn, how lucky can this women be? Pretty much so on this night anyway.

Tied 7-7 in a race to 10 finals this past weekend. I had a rack that didn't seem too tight when I broke them and played safe by freezing him on the end rail.

He jumped over all those balls and knicked the 1 ball. I would have drawn the line better from the 1 to the 9 if I could figure how to draw a curve. The cueball started on a direct line to scratch and curved around the 7 and sliced the 9 ball in.

Of course he snapped the 9 on the next break, the 9 didn't move off the spot but 2 balls kicked it in.
