Jay when is THE BOOK going to be ready?

It's actually about three quarters complete. I spend too much time doing other things and neglect it sometimes, but now that its close I do want to get it finished. I am trying to do one vignette (short story) a day. Maybe 8-10 yet to go. And then I have to figure out the best way to publish it, but Freddie is helping me with that.

I made a long list of stories from the 60's to early 2000's and I'm trying my best to do them all. I had to leave out a few of the less interesting ones. 90% of this stuff has never been in print and are stories I've never told on here. I left out Danny Diliberto's golf ball story for just that reason. Everyone's heard it by now.

Thanks for asking by the way.

Don't leave out those stories Jay. When they are told from another perspective they really gain legend status.

We never get tired of a good story!!!!

Yes and perhaps not everyone has heard them, not all frequent AZ and the book may grow larger then you think and reach wider then you think. :)

I probably have a story about almost every great player from the last 40 years. At least the ones I hooked up with along the way. It's a series of recollections that have never been in print, some for good reason. Kind of an oral history of an era. I suspect a few of these guys won't be happy with me and the story I tell about them. But I tried not to embarrass anyone, just tell the truth about something that I thought might be interesting to pool fans.

Not that I know of.....

Is it ever overcome? I never really ever saw a chronic twitcher or a shaker improve any. Coulda been Tourettes too perhaps?

and it's hard to guess at medical symptoms. It just sounded in this story like that was the malady. Alcohol dramatically alters it for the short term, but then you've got all those problems that go along with that. I'm not too sure of the effectiveness of drugs on Familial Essential Tremors though.

Some pretty sporty players have it, or had it when they played. I just like to see them get the respect they deserve in overcoming it to whatever extent they can. Makes the game 100% more difficult. A good quote from someone I know......"Embrace the shake"....... tough to do!!

Wimpy was the best of his era, from the 50's to the early 70's. For about a 20 year period he was considered the best 9-Ball player by his peers. He was a lot like Buddy from the 70's to the 90's, a great tournament player and money player as well. I can only think of one player in the 60's willing to gamble with Wimpy and that was Harold Worst.

This makes me think of a chat I once had with Johnny Ervolino. I commented to him that I'd seen Lassiter play on numerous occasions, and although I'd heard that he was the best nine ball player on the planet, I never saw him practicing anything but straight pool. Johnny told me that Wimpy got to the point that his nine ball action was so dead that, for a while, he stopped practicing it. This post makes Johnny's claim all the more believable. I've always regretted that I never got to see Wimpy's nine ball game.
