Machinist Level

That may be a translation confusion?
I don't suggest that in the least.
OTOH i actually know that some used levels get warped & some have huge dent burrs from poor handling, probably not from the users, but from the acquisition and vendor chain. If you are buying *used* precision levels it might or might not be worth verifying the bases start in the condition you prefer, for your preferred work.

Once the frame condition is known, proceed with routine calibration of the vial, a relatively simple task.

I think i get that it does not matter to you.
It's almost comical that it seems to make you irritable.

Irritable, not at all, I just remember how many times I read stupid things from your part, just like said in this message again.

Because reading the level of a flat surface on top of an imperfect surface takes away from knowing where to place a shim to correct that imperfect surface. If you want to do it your way to level the frame, by all means, level away. But if you need to manipulate the slate to make it level, good luck.
I just spoke about new tables like Rasson, Diamond... with mechanical adjustable support points you know, a spacer puck at each support point will be better than level directly on table.

I disagree, and I work on 100's of Diamond tables a year.

This is the slates on a 6'×12' snooker table. In that picture, there's 3 of the 5 pieces of slate put together, can you see the 3 pieces? Took 2 days to level this table out

You can disagree it's not a problem for me and you can work on 50 000 tables a year, it make no difference in the physical reality. My level are 9 feet straight edge supported at each end and I read the slate straightness with a .0005 dial indicator everywhere on table. Do you think you can do better with your little level?

Absolutely, because I know how to bend and manipulate slate, do you?

Trust me, you don't want to challenge me when it comes to leveling slates or making the slate seams perfect, not without at least bringing a bag of cash!!!

Absolutely and easily.
Really? Ok, take the seams on a 3 piece slate, on the first seam, the slate is dead flush on the outside edges, dead flush in the center, but a 3rd of the way in from the outside edges, the seams ar not flush, 1 side is higher than the other....and there's no crossmember to shim up the low side on, how do you address that issue???

PS, this situation comes up all the time!

I'm in Canada but any time, I can pass after you and read all your defects, working with machinist level is just a cheap method accessible to all

Here's another question for you. When setting up a 3 piece slate, do you screw the slate seams to the frame of the table, then level them as needed?

Depending on your answer to my second question, and I guarantee you it'll be wrong, I guess I'll be forced to give away another one of my trade secrets just to prove you wrong!!

I don't have anythings to do with your top secrets, you just don't understand some basic things, you can't do better than that you can see with your little toys and it is why that a lot of tables are warped in championship, we see that all time in championship final, the value of little levels.

The truth is you can't answer my questions because they're beyond your capabilities, admit it!!

No just on the method, I can pass after your final job and put 4 supports spacer on slate close to corner table and see you the reality of the job, my level can read end to end of table at .0005
