Good points Cardinal.Cardinal2B said:- On the contra side...Comparing Pool to Poker is risky - first you can't win, Poker is already huge, and everyone knows it...and second, its just better form to sell what you got rather than against what the other sport/game has.... however, in the context of what this promo is used for, they are sellling against a bunch of Poker shows, probably against the same demographic, so it might come off as refreshing to a jaded TV type who has sat through promo after promo for poker shows. It was good that they made the point once and got off it quickly so we didn't get beat about the head with it after that initial intro with the King card arising out of the castle and the 8-ball being fired from the cannon - a clever idea, but not the best produced segment of this promo.
So if it receives good ratings and is sold at good prices to networks worldwide, would you then be willing to eat a little humble pie?macguy said:Of course it is going to be on the air, KT is paying for it. You honestly think every network is clamoring to show a tournament / reality show done months ago that everybody knows the outcome of, and pay for it giving it 10 hours of air time? You know the worst part of this is, Kt feeds the same ridiculous BS to you members as he does to everyone else like you are a bunch of mindless idiots. He should at least show you guys some respect and be straight up with you all instead of his insane hype, save that for the rest of the public. I hope at least behind closed doors you all really know what is going on even if we aren't prive to it.

macguy said:If any major network picks this thing up and pays for 9 segments with the nail biting final, (That was played months ago and the outcome is common knowledge) especially since the final turned out to be so bad and viewers will be flipping after most of the first set. I will be amazed beyond all words...QUOTE]
Gee and I thought I was carping... I expect somebody will pick it up, there's never enough programming to go around really. How much they pay is a different question, and KT might indeed wind up four-walling it (meaning he did 1. the event, 2. the production, 3. bought the air time, and 4. sold the ads). Happens more often than you think. May not mattter if the exposure & production are good; the trick in four-walling is selling the ads - and not to yourself! Then the ratings / buzz would have to be there to make more of this work out.... Despite the known outcomes, I think that could be the case. Look, we - the pool cognoscenti - would all watch even though we know what happened, just to see it; the average possibly-mildly-intrigued-potential-audience isn't going to necessarily know the outcome until / unless they watch. You think all those poker matches are live? - those outcomes are known, too by the tie they air. Obviously a tense nail-biter hill-hill final would be better drama, but even the final, with the proper spin / storyline, could be pretty viewable.
Stay tuned.

JAM said:Kevin Trudeau has followed through and put pool on the map with this promo piece. It was the BEST video presentation I have ever seen, bar none. I cannot imagine how many HUNDREDS of hours of video the production team had to pore through, and I think the end product is going to attract mainstream America to the tube when the eight 1-hour episodes and 2-hour finale debut in March 2006.![]()
Having said all of the above, I am eager to watch this promo once more on a high-speed cable or DSL line. On my dial-up connection at home, it took 2 hours to watch the promo in its entirety, the audio was completely unintelligible, and the video shot out in bursts of 4-second increments throughout the duration, not a smooth stream.![]()
I thought Ewa Mataya was beautiful, gorgeous, and alluring, and though I could not hear the words she spoke on the video due to my dial-up, I thought she came across just great. The snippets of the KOTH in Las Vegas showed Mike Sigel being escorted out to the pit by four scantily clad women, and the complete buttocks were in full view. I didn't like that part, and I guess I'm turning more and more into my mother each day I age. I'm sure the gentlemen in the audience will appreciate that vision more than me.
And then there was Earl. I remember the cameras following Earl throughout the duration of the KOTH in Orlando, and I can't wait to see Earl's snippets. The BEST action portion of the video for me was when Earl Strickland broke the balls, him looking like a mighty warrior holding onto his weapon of mass destruction, in the heat of the battle.![]()
I did see Keith speaking in one segment, and though he looked very attractive in his three-piece suit, I couldn't hear one word of what he said, again, due to my dial-up connection. I pray that it was all good because I NEVER know what is going to come out of his mouth at times.![]()
It was interesting to see the brief segment of Tom Cruise a/k/a Vincent in "The Color of Money." Though I couldn't hear the audio, I was thinking it must have taken a lot of pull to get Disney to allow the IPT to show it on this promo.![]()
Since I was in Orlando for the KOTH, I witnessed the event in its entirety. At the players' meeting, I was totally impressed with Kevin Trudeau's presentation. He is an EXCELLENT speaker and has the capability to hold one's interest. I would have liked to have seen more of him in this video presentation.![]()
Karen Corr was the ONLY lady to pass Levels 1 and 2, starting from the bottom. Whereas, the Hall of Fame ladies and gents began their play at Level 3, having a bye for Levels 1 and 2. As I was watching the promo, I was wondering what on earth would they have done if Karen, Allison, Loree, Robin, Gerda, or any of the ladies would have triumphed and beaten Mike Sigel in the finals. The name of the event would have had to have been changed to "QUEEN of the Hill."![]()
I'm going to watch it once more on a high-speed connection, so that I can enjoy with the audio and smooth-running video instead of 4-second bursts. I'm sure it won't take 2 hours to see it again, but if it does, I won't mind. I thought it was absolutely stupendous, first class, and the beginning of a new era of pool on TV. I very much liked the theme at the beginning of the castle with the King of Hearts. I am thankful that the IPT has generated so much excitement and can't wait until March to see this baby unfold.![]()
