Main Forum vs NPR vs Tournament Section- I just want to follow the rules

Watchez, I can honestly say, it wasn't me who snitched on you. But it could have been anyone. Your beligerant, argumentative attitude, sets you up for all kinds of problems. You use this forum to try and collect bad debts, berate anyone who disagrees with you, and in general seem to enjoy controversy. Keep it up, you WILL have to return as an alias. However your attitude will always shine through.

Nevermind - I will delete my reply. Let's just say you can have your opinion and I will have mine. I think I have proven my case that someone is watching every post I make - glad to know it was not you. I would suggest that since you have such an exact opinion on my posts and me - take the time to read the posts of EVERY person that has replied in just this thread and let me know how you would rate them. I can't wait to read your findings and opinions on that. Just go back and read, say the last 20 posts of each person that has replied in this thread. You might be surprised what you find if you are honest in what you are reading.

Not counting your several posts, I only count a very few who like your style. Many posts are the mods, trying to keep you in line, yours are all about you resenting their authority.
I think Derek Disco sums it up pretty good !

I'm sorry, I've seen enough of this childish crap...adios !

Why is a reasonable question like Watchez"s met with such harshness. Why does everybody get such joy at yelling at each other. It is hard to tell the difference between NPR and the Main Forum sometimes.

IMO. Watchez adds a lot to the forum. I'm glad to see you back.

Hey!!! Hey!!! No dissing NPR. Its a very loving family we have over there.

You make some good points John, but I would wager Mike has a little more than $15.00 invested in this operation.
I also question the need for argumentative "flamer's" to drive up the numbers. USA Today has a much larger following than the National Enquirer. Some people gravitate towards "train wrecks" and some people prefer to just get along and enjoy life. I'll take the latter. JMHO :yeah:

I don't think there is a need for flamers. I can't stand them either. And of course Mike has more than $15 in it, the point was that you can have a platform for $15 but having an actual forum consists of having an active membership.

I never said that this forum needs drama. It doesn't. But what it does need is evenhanded and fair moderating. Watchez may be a jerkoff - he has certainly tried to bash me in the past with little success (in my opinion at least), but he brings up valid points. IF threads are moved without warning then ALL such threads should be moved.

That's why AZ needs more moderators. To me it's too much to handle for one or two people. Especially when those people are humans who are vulnerable to attack. Just assign some moderator accounts and find trusted people who will volunteer for the job and allow them to do it. Make the rules clear and apply them equally to all and that's that.

I also vote for a community policing system like Craig's list. I don't know if this software has the capability but it would be cool if it did have the capability for the community to effectively vote a post "off the island" and see it gone. Then people wouldn't start crappy threads because the community wouldn't stand for it. At least that's the theory and I still believe in the fundamental goodness of humanity as well...........

:-)

I thought the "I'm back" thread wasn't NPR at all, compared to for example "Funny pic/gif thread"...

Unfortunately it is obvious that on AZBilliards some people can write and do almost whatever they like while others have to be very careful.

It shouldn't be that way.

For this thread, I think Watchez is asking a valid question. I am especially thinking of the "Happy b-day Joe Rogan" thread. Birthday threads pops up almost daily on AZB, and no one seems to complain about them, and nothing happens, because after a day or two they are on page 5 anyway.

But when Watchez started such a thread it was moved immidiately... (If you search you will find more than 550 Birthday-threads in the mainforum, and about 50 in the NPR.)

Funny how the same rules works different for different people...

If I were the owner of this site I would be concerned with making the site as cool and appealing as possible and the funny pic gif thread would absolutely stay in the main forum regardless of how little pool was in it.

It is unbelievably popular and a great selling point to a new person checking out the site.

I would also state clearly in the forum rules that there will certainly be exceptions to certain rules at the discretion of the owners/mods.

Some npr has been allowed to stay, as a gesture.

Most is not.

I have in the past given warnings for NPR in the main forum.

How about this.....I simply delete the posts that make it to the main forum that don't belong?

We have people who seem to post crap deliberately more often than not, so why should threads be allowed to live after I move to NPR?

It is actually quicker and easier to delete a thread than move it.

I think I like that idea.
Wrong forum = deleted post, rather than moved.

Oh, BTW....just because some "content" in a thread may contain the word "pool" does not make it Pool related. If folks think they can skirt an issue this way they will be disappointed.

When everyone who frequents these forums realizes that we are all GUESTS here and do not in any shape, form or fashion OWN any part of the website, a slightly different attitude may prevail.

I'm sure you'd love someone being invited into your house and then they proceed to insult you on how wrong you are in the way you live.
KNOCK, KNOCK! WE ARE GUESTS HERE! GET IT?????
Watchez:
You know the rules of the forum, they are posted, you have been emailed, you have been warned, you have been banned; frankly that is enough. Try to act mature and stop this attitude of "starting fires".

Either get on with talking about pool related subjects and saying hi to friends or dismiss yourself. Michael has been informed of this thread and Mr. Wilson will take whatever measures Mike left him with for enforcing. These "threads" will be looked over and if Mr. Wilson feels they need to be moved he has the power. They will not be moved on your demand.

You are all "GUESTS" here and we really do enjoy seeing posts from all types of people. This forum is for enjoyment and sharing. You want to see the commitment and how hard Mike has worked on the websites (plural) check out "For the Love of Pool". http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=1415057#post1415057

There are several people who are not "qualified moderators" but friends and family who keep an eye on the pages to make sure things stay civil. This is not a site that should have to be "moderated" every second, like little children out of control. This site was developed for the average pool player and fan to communicate their love of pool and stay connected.
In a perfect world this site would be full of people who don't instigate just for the fun of it.

Unfortunately one of the huge downsides to the "information age" is that anyone can dilute information with complete idiocy. I'd like to think that all the people who make computer servers can thank all the storage spaces wasted on flamer rants.

And yes, we are guests here in addition to being contributing members to an ongoing concern. Some of us donate directly, some of us contribute meaningful content, some of us make the rest of us laugh daily, each of us who contribute make this site work.

You posted that Mike started this for the love of pool. We get that and for the love of pool is why most of us are here as well.

Watchez is the last guy I will stick up for based on his character. What I will stick up for is some kind of consistency.

You all - whoever the group is that moderates these forums allow a lot of truly viscous threads to stay going while a lot of harmless ones get - you allow some posters to start malicious attacks on other posters and allow it to continue without holding the original poster to any kind of standard to back up unfounded accusations.

Now, perhaps this is because the moderation is on the friends and family plan and volunteers can't be expected to police the forum as it needs to be. I don't know. What I do know is that there is a LOT of uneven handling of posts going on which leads to threads like this complaining about it.

What started as a labor of love for pool by Mike has turned into a small and growing enterprise that has some kind of monetary value to it. And while you're right that it shouldn't be a place where people act like out of control children, in fact the internet encourages people to be that way so it's your job if you run a commercial web forum to babysit it thoroughly.

At least that's how I see it.
