Hey AZ family,

I know this is non pool related but my only 100% brother is leaving for Kuwait at-0900 this am. Nothing top secret, just another soldier serving his country so that I don't have to.

He is currently a Major in the Army. He spent over 20 in the Marine Corps but they are unforgiving once you resign your commision. Either way the Army was glad to have him. This is the first time he has ever been even near combat (that I know of) I know Kuwait is not in the middle of a fire fight today but it is in a wonderful location for quick orders elsewhere. He is 52 and has 5 wonderful children as well as my own 2 that still call him Poppy.

Yes, he helped to raise mine while I was being irresponsible, and on the road. I wasn't always irresponsible but he was much the better parent in our family. He took my children for over a year a few decades ago when they were a perfect age for english riding lessons & the Smithsonian. Yes my children managed to live in Quntico even though I never did.

My brother is serving his country so I don't have to. All I'm asking for are positive thoughts & prayers. I need so much for him to return safe.

I am having feelings that I have never had before. I don't even know what these feelings are?

Wow, Ltldebbie, they were living right in my back yard here in D.C. Quantico is a beautiful area of Virginia, although last night, I think they were all hit with tornado scares. We are in a flood watch today. Virginia was struck last night with Mother Nature.

My father was a major in the Army Air Corps, which later became the Army. I used to go Walter Reed Army Medical Center as a kid until I hit 18 for free medical benefits. You don't appreciate them until you lose them. Both my parents are gone, my mom and dad, but they are buried together at Arlington National Cemetery, which is a very historical place. I never understood why my dad was so thrilled when he was approved to be buried there, but I think at one time, they were running out of space.

There is one member of AzBilliard who is in Kuwait. I think his name is "Lilbubba." So Ltldebbie, you must meet Lilbubba! :D

My nephew Eric, my brother's only child, is in Iraq right now, his first tour of duty for the Army, 15 months. Man, that's a long time. When we don't hear from him, we get nervous. He is in a war zone. He has already been promoted to a sergeant. He is a college graduate from University of Arizona, honors, but he couldn't find a decent job. So what does he do? He joined the Army and wanted to do it from the bottom up. He really likes the Army lifestyle a lot.

I am so proud of him. Here is his picture below.

God bless the men and women in the armed forces. I pray for them all!

JAM

Ltldebbie and JAM, yes I am in Kuwait now. I will be going to VA at the end of this month for a couple of weeks and then back over here for short time to get ready to go home FOR GOOD (I hope)! Tell him to track me down, I will send you a PM with my Kuwait cell number. Does he play pool?

May God bless your brother and all of our troops overseas. We owe so much to these young men facing unknown dangers for our country.

I too have a friend in Kuwait (maybe more if I knew who is there)! He's from the Guard, Vehicle Operator/Dispatcher, LeRoy DePas. You can't miss him, he's about 6'4", average build, dark hair!

God Bless all of you! I'm sorry I'm not there this time!

Debbie,
God bless your brother for serving for 20 years and then switching branches to serve our country yet again. I will pray for his safety. I am saddened by the number of U.S. military that have paid with their lives in this war (4,073).

Thanks for sharing.
Doug

My nefew is in Kandahar right now,has only been there for a few months, but when he left I was sick to my stomach.
I wish for all to return safely.
I know our death toll(about 85) is a fraction to yours, but 1 is too many.
After the election you should send Bush to fight for what he started.....Madman.

You should never have to apologize about posting something like this in the main section, in my opinion. That's all I have to say.

fist of all since this was posted at 1am this morning and he didn't leave until 9am you really shouldn't talk about troop movements!!!!!!!! second of all a major in Kuwait isn't too bad. hell kuwait isn't a bad place to be at all. it's a little boaring though. what base is it? is it camp victory?

there're a lot of marines that go to the army, it usually comes with a promotion. if he did 20 in the corps he could have retired. his dedication to his country is admirable "Non Sibi Sed Patriae!"!

not for self, for country

Your Brother is a great example of what being an American is all about. You see Debbie I have the utmost respect for anyone who chooses to serve their country in any capacity. The values, the moral strength, and the integrity one gains is beyond compare to other forms of National service. Do not feel sad be proud, and support him in any way you can.

Have a nice day Debbie!!!

I am currently in Kuwait... Also a 50 yr old Major... cell 724-2996... Have your brother call if he needs anything...

Thanks for all the positive thoughts. I actually had time to pray this morning before my feet hit the ground. Something that usually doesn't happen for me. My feet usually hit the ground before I have had a sane thought. I don't wake up well. and, Not many people I know like to wake me up. Anyway today is an unusually beautiful spring day. Everything is going to be OK. I may even go to the falls. Thank you again .

Yes, I am so proud of my brother and it is OK to be. Thank you for the re-enforcements.
