Manwons Reveiw of his New Case, made by (capefairpool) Rusty Melton

Absolutely stunning.

Looks like there is a new sheriff in town.

The sadness part about Manwon's case and the cases Rusty is making is they all are one of one. As no two can be alike when you are Hand carving and stamping these case. They can only go up in value. It a shame Rusty doesn't have a website or does he?

I hope people check Rusty stuff out, over at Leatherworker forum http://www.leatherworker.net/forum/ RustyMelton member

Thanks for your comments Bob, "The sadness part about Manwon's case and the cases Rusty is making is they all are one of one." however, that is why I bought it and for the same reason I have already ordered another one.

If anyone takes a look at what is available in the cue case market in the $500 to $1000 price range Rusty's work clearly stands out from all the rest. Like I have said in the past his cases are hand cut, hand stamped and stitched. Now I understand Rusty's is kinda new to this trade, and may not have the experience that some others have, but when it comes to traditional American art in it's truest form Rusty's cases shine like a beacon. Other case makers currently building are not concerned with this aspect, thus technology is the base of what they are building. When technology is the watch word of any Craftsmen something traditional is lost. I understand that fantastic things can be accomplished with all the new machinery, just like when building cues, but the personal touch that use to identify an individual is gone. I don't know about anyone else, but when I purchase an item for the craftsmanship in it, I do not what the craftsmanship from multiple hands, I expect the craftsmanship from the person I commissioned it from, maybe I am the alone in this thought!!!!

I hope Rusty doesn't change a thing because traditional designs and craftsmanship will never go out of fashion, and people will Cherish items built in this manner far longer than any mass produced.

In closing, if you want a piece of Traditional American made functional Art, Rusty Melton is the man to Build it for you. While it may be a little more expensive than the run of the mill items available it will last far longer, never go out of style, and if cared for appreciate in value over time.

Just my thoughts

Craig, you and Tommy are right, I'm just getting started and still have alot to learn but I won't be satisfied if I don't keep improving. I try to read all I can and with sites like leatherworker I think my cases will get better and better. I was looking at my orders today and at least a third of my orders are repeat customers, that's a good feeling. Not that I don't like new customers because I do but when someone orders a second, third and so on it makes me feel I've done something right. Thanks everyone for the nice comments and orders!

Thanks for posting Sev!!!

CONGRATS to you Craig and thank you for showing me the case; it's a real honor to see the case in person. Now I can see what you were saying and I really hate myself for not jumping on it when you told me to

Now does anyone want to tell me what's the wait like for one of these hotties?

Thanks for the kind words Alex, but I told you to get on the guy's list!!!:D

Now it could take a year to get a case like that, or even longer.

Take care Alex, and remeber you can stop by and touch my case anytime you want!!!!!!!:D

Well guys Alex ordered his case today, and guess what the wait time is now 8 months, and this is only the beginning!!!:)

Joey, you are certaintly correct, I also believe his cases will be treasured collectibles. This is an opprotunity for anyone to get in on the ground floor. When we see cases made by famous cases makers like Chas Clements, J. Flowers and others we all wish we could have ordered a case from them when they started out like Rusty is now.

take care

Surprising Rusty not mention on JB Case website.

I certainly don't understand why he wouldn't be, while he is building a more traditional American Style form of case than most anyone currently. The work Rusty is doing is as time consuming and arduous as anything anyone else is building if not more so. In addition his work is very very good even if he is still learning, in fact there are many saying for the style of case he builds he is equal to anyone building that style today.

Hopefully John will add him soon, if not it really doesn't matter because Rusty has a great deal of work to get caught up on, currently there is a 8 month wait time for one of his cases. By the time he catches up he will no longer have to prove himself to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

Take care

your new case is very nice,i have 2 of the singles and ordered 2 doubles, with 2 different patterns,so i know he makes at least 2 different patterns and i believe he makes more.mine are a little different in that i didn't get pouches on mine so i would have a complete case tooled.i like that look better on mine as i don't need the pouches.yours is very atractive as well.
another thing was mentioned about the case being too nice to carry,i carry mine and don't worry about it because even when it begins to show wear this type of rugged tooling in a case of this type actually looks better in a way,i believe it is referred to as patima as it ages gracefully

Thanks for posting Dean, I agree with you these case were meant to be used, not kept hidden away. I for one am certainly proud to carry my case were ever I go. I also have placed any additional case on order, I would like to have at least one of every size Rusty makes.

Take care Dean, and thanks for posting/
