Your not the only oneI've had a thing for this cue for a long time now. Wish I snagged it now.

Brent, you sure you didn't grab some ebony or African blackwood by accident? I thought Stevie the squirrel was helping you with the colors...?
It's an awesome cue, but really looks more like black than purple
Dave
Your not the only one,but that OK,I know of some other neat stuff lurking in that shop!

now that's the best description of the color i've heard:thumbup:I have owned a couple of BdR cues in that darker shade. If you lay it next to an ebony cue, you can tell the difference...BdR being more of a black cherry color. Amazingly great playing wood, with high resonance.
Congrats on a beautiful cue!

You might be a great person but being someone that understands Brent doesn't make you better...it makes you as strange as he is....
Its like saying you aren't as ugly as your sister....it isn't a compliment...
LOL

Just wanted to follow up and say how pleased I am with this cue . I went a little outside my normal cue buying fold too get this one as it's not Brazilian Rosewood. I gotta say I'm very glad that I did.
The first thing that got my attention was the packing job. The shafts and the butt were protected by 3 different layers. 1st the clear plastic cue bag folded over and taped, then several layers of newspaper and more tape , Then each piece was inserted into pvc pipe and the ends stuffed with bubble wrap and then more tape . All shipped safe and sound in a triangle shaped box. The reason I mention this is as I was unpacking it struck me that I had received cues that cost 10x as much that were just thrown in a box, This guy cares about his work and really sweats the details down to the last step of packing the cue up properly.
After getting it unwrapped I was very pleased by glossy smoothness of the finish . My wife who never says anything about the cues commented on what a "pretty" cue it was so I think the combo of the Bois de Rose / Maple Burl must be working.
I found fit and finish to be excellent with no visible flaws . I was also please to see that the ring work lined up when screwing the butt on the shaft , a pet peeve of mine.
I haven't had a lot of table time with the cue but I definitely like the slim handle and the taper that Brent is using . I also like whatever the tips on the cue are they seem nice and firm without being overly hard. He also used a pad under the tip which I like. Given the materials used in this cue , The fancy JP's and the quality in general I think the cue represents a tremendous value.
Anyway dealing with Brent was a pleasure and If you like a cue that's a bit thinner in the handle with good balance I suggest you give him a call. I look forward to my next BHQ.
