Marriage proposal in the poolroom

That is a wonderful outcome to an event we have all been privy to. Thanks for sharing!

She said YES!
So my friend Dave decided on Johhnyt's box idea. (We should've known a guy who has been married 40 years would know something about romance!). I found a brown box around 12x12 that something had been mailed in for Christmas and used the original UPS label. On top of the label I addressed it to Cassidy in care of the Golden Cue and my address. Today Dave brought me the ring so I put it in the box with a note from him asking Cass to marry him. He had decided that I would give her the box right before our tournament started tonight.. So I taped up the box with the white label and it looked really authentic. The return address said Power Sales Advertising.
I went out to dinner (because the tournament didn't start for and hour and a half) and came back so we could put the plan in motion. Because this secret wasn't well kept, (and there was the tournament) many people were there to watch the engagement unfold. I saw Dave in the parking lot when I drove up and said "are you ready?" and he was. I went behind the bar picked up the package, asked my husband to hold off on calling the tournament tables and walked across the room to Cass with the box. I told her that I had entered her name in the poolrooms favorite customer contest and her name won and here was the package that came UPS.
She actually wanted to put the box down and go get her camera. She wasn't a bit surprised to win a favorite customer contest. LOL! She is so funny! Her friend ran and got her camera for her and started taking pictures. So we walked around the corner with the box and most everyone turned to watch--I think that made her nervous. She called Dave over to see her prize and started to open the package. I gave her a pair of scissors to open the packing tape and when she saw the note inside that said "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" she dropped (yes, dropped ) the box and ran to Dave--crying. She cried so hard, (for 5 minutes). I whispered in Dave ear...is she happy??? He said "yes".
Honestly she never got to the ring box inside and I think that bodes well for the young lovers...
Dave, Cass, myself and a few others went outside where it was quiet and she gave her answer again...YES! And then she opened the ring box to see a beautiful round 1/2 ct diamond which Dave put on her finger.
And all the while the photos were popping. That was really cool, how many people get photos of their engagements? And they turned out really good.
It was a really sweet moment and I felt honored to be a part of it. Thank you all for your wonderful ideas. Romance is alive and well in the poolroom!
May they have many happy years. Johnnyt

DON'T DO IT

Steve

Am in total agreement. There was a poll and the majority of the females did not enjoy it or want it to be that way. KISS. Just ask her in private and don't put her on the spot.

Thanks Johnnyt, I can tell you are happily married and wish the same for them.
Would you beleive in our tournament tonight, I did the draw and they drew each other first round. I guess it was his time to win. She's a good player and I suspect she'll hang in there on the one loss side.
They are romantics, since they met in the Golden Cue that is where Dave wanted to propose. I have 3 bays in my poolroom, now they want to rent a room for the reception...ain't love grand!

I'm really pleased to hear it turned out so well. Please pass on best wishes to the happy couple.
