Mastering the Jump Shot

Thank you Robin. And to Jay. I better be jumping like Mexican jumping bean in a week or you give me the break in 9-ball on a bar table and NO jump cues they next time I see you.:D Johnnyt

The break! Are you crazy??? You beat me last time with the last two. We play even stud!!!

...Now a days all jump cues work great, its the player....they need a teacher..... I believe I'm that teacher. Mastering the Jump Shot is simple

I'm not sure that I agree with the premise that all jump cues work great. I've tried other players' jump cues and could barely jump with them, and others have tried mine and could barely jump with them.

I've actually been thinking about upgrading my Palmer jump/break cue to something better. Could you explain what I should be looking for in a good jump cue? And which jump cues would you recommend and why? Is a dedicated jump cue preferable to using a combination break/jump cue?

I'm not crazy about the idea of a break jump cue. I know they've improved but years ago YUCK!
I have tried a lot of other peoples jump cues at my booth I test them to see if they work. But I do not know the name of them. I of course like the Frog or Tadpole....I know them because they are mine. But I have tried my customers and they all seem to jump pretty easy to me.
I hear, Jacoby and Mike G. make good jump cues too.
Sorry I can't be more help.

Nice Condo here in Vegas...APA bound
Shipping as soon as I get home the orders from today and this weekend.

I believe the last time we played was somewhere down around the Miami area. It was big table even 9 ball and you were up a few games after a few hours. About $120 worth.:embarrassed2:.Johnnyt

OK, well I had a jump shot yesterday (two actually), and they both turned out bad for me:angry:. I'm sold, I will order your DVD, I use a Predator Air (the 3 piece), hope this will help:cool:. I will post a review and some results:grin:.

Got my video Sat. Very fast delivery and no S&H rip-off. How strong is that? There might be something to this religion stuff:smile:. I watched it three times so far and I can honestly say I have been doing NOTHING right. I know from watching it I will begin to jump right away. Unfortunately I have a bad arthritis wrist flare up and can’t use my left hand until it decides to calm down. Thank you Robin for getting it out so fast. Hi Robin,

I will be ordering it tonight, or should I say my personal accountant (wife) will be ordering it for me tonight (I'm computer dumb)...

Pete

Thanks for the shout out, Robin! I enjoyed working with you & hope "MASTERING THE JUMP SHOT" is a huge success. Received the DVD today, watched it & went straight to my table to try out a few things I learned. Worked beautifully & I'm now hopping over & even pocketing balls consistently. If an old pro like me can pick up a few things that I didn't know, it's the nuts for those that can't jump or struggle with the shot. Great job! Robin, I think you've got a winner!

Mary Kenniston

Stop it Mary! I saw u play against Robin in 1989 at Golden 8 ball in Phoenix,AZ. I thought u tried some jump shots then. Since u have recommended that Video, I am going to buy it today.:D:thumbup::D

LOL Like Jay said...even an old dog can learn new tricks! The main thing that helped me in MASTERING THE JUMP SHOT was a simple change in my bridge hand. I was never able to jump balls within a handspan of the cue ball - now I'm hopping over them with ease & consistency.

I could not find Robyn`s booth at Riviera. I asked joe salazer where Robyn`s booth is. He immediately said that he has her video tape. I did not tell joe that I was looking for that video. I bought the video from him. Thanks for your recommendation.

Joe told me he sold 1, I didn't have a booth I'm just hanging out and talking to Distrubitors.

In the same respect your opponent can completely blow a shot and as a result of the leave become the favorite to win the game. The jump cue is the "Grand Equalizer" to today's screwy rules that shockingly, world class pool is played by.

Why should that be a good thing? I don't see how today's screwy rules warrants a grand equalizer in the form of a leverage for players of lesser skills....or how if that be the case; pool is being played at less than "world class".

If your opponent has now acquired a higher chance of not giving you the ultimate reward of ball in hand, how is it "completely blowing the shot"? On top of that, you seem to be inferring that it is ok to permit a person to use a tool enabling them to not only hit a shot you masterfully executed, but also increase his/her chance of making the shot and clobbering you....in the name of being mad about new rules.

Is this the same macguy I know? What did you do with him, mister?

Its hard for me to chime in here do to the topic. But if I may...take off my business hat and put on my 20 year pro hat for a second and reply.
The rules are the way they are for TV... make the game quicker still rings in my ears...that was the goal...thus 9 ball not straight pool. I promise you the list can go on and on....but to stay on topic....our sport is soooooooooo stuck.
The reason I think the jump shot is GREAT is because it is a cool shot for the viewers. Anyone shooting a jump shot grabs the attention of anyone around. Test it out, and what our sport needs is excitement.
Kicking is great please don't get me wrong....but also note I understand what a great kick shot is...for the novice they have no idea of either shots. But because they jumped...that's the talking point.
Die hard players...I totally get it.....but I have to continue to believe one day....some day....our sport will get the reconition it deserves.
Jumping is just another shot that can help that happen.
I tried to freeze the opponent, then I didn't worry.... I have a section on the knowledge of when and when not to jump. It is a shot, and it will improve your game...no question about it.
The more players improve the more they want to play.
And that is a good thing....a very good thing, we need all the fans in our sport as we can get.
IMHO

Joe, such the salesman...you should go back to his and tell him "Robin said...straighten up her DVD" and put them on both sides....He will get a kick out of that... Joe's a good guy....my buddy. :)

Can't wait to see your hard work! Congrats!

Thank you, hard work paying off...is a great feeling!!! The reviews...have been great!!!
