Masters Of "Treachery"

erman bullard has to be in the top 5

I find this one odd as well, Erman came to OKC several times with Coy Lee Nicholson and I never remember either one of them being very under handed or treacherous.

I've spent some time around Coy Lee and never saw him do anything treacherous at all. Even when there was a lot of woofing and money being thrown around. I consider him a pretty upright fellow actually.

Though I've been around a lot of 'treacherous' players, I don't think using their names is appropriate. And the stories are more sad than amusing...

An amusing story about myself though not treacherous...

I was playing great and had won several tourneys in a row so I decided that I needed a 'signature'...people always thought I was on drugs because I moved my tongue & lips so much when I was shooting...so I bought a kazoo. Then during my matches I would keep the kazoo in my mouth and play while I was shooting. I would be the 'kazoo kid!'. As a bonus, this kept me from having 'crack' lips...I was careful to not play the kazoo while my opponents were shooting (of course, what I failed to think of was that while I was shooting on one table, there were other players playing on other tables :o )

Well, I don't think I really expected people to think "wow, that guy's cool!" but I still wasn't prepared for actual reaction I got. Laughing soon turned to threats and when I won the tournament, outrage. Eventually the bouncers nicely persuaded me to leave and I threw the kazoo out the wind ow on the way home.

Dave "Rotten" Rodden aka Boy George and any Gypsy I've ever seen make a gambling game...............Marc

Well i don't call this one as being (Treachery or Treacherous) just a Smooth Move!

Once Danny Jones (Handsome Danny) told me he went to a tournament, well their was this guy there that Danny owed $600, and was worried about being harrast for it.

Well it being the very first of the tournament Danny didn't want to let loose of any dough, and he knew the guy was going to aprouch him about the $600, so .

..Danny said he made the first move, he went up to the guy and said ,....... well i owe you $600..right?...the guy said yes.... Danny said: would you take $400 and call it even?....the guy said yes,....Danny told the guy well now i just owe you $400, its gonna be aight!

Danny just walked off with that s#hit eating grin and his stiff neck he had, .....thought that was kinda funny......lol:)

Danny got to play the rest of the tourney and gamble without interruption.

RC,

Did you read my post or just assume I said Coy Lee was treacherous, I was responding to an earlier post that said Erman Bullard was treacherous and I said he and Coy Lee came to OKC quite often and neither of them were ever known to do anything remotely close to treacherous. Please read before commenting.

Thanks

Just noticed the last name and where you are from, David. You have to be related to, Calvin, right?

hemicudas: yes, Country Calvin (Harcrow) is my brother, he's 10 yrs. older than me, i lived in Texarkana,Texas for about 15 yrs., just recently moved to Arkadelphia,Arkansas

Calvin still lives on the Arkansas side of Texarkana, it being a twin city.
He closed up the night club he had,( Country Connection) he now hangs lights up in airport hangers for a living all across the USA, (go figure)

Country still shoots the local's where ever he maybe, but nothing serious.

I'm going to ask him if he wants to go to Memphis,Tn. next weekend to their tourney with me, if hes not out of state working.

laters,

I've never met him, nor do I want to, but I've heard from many players who I greatly admire and trust, it would have to be Ed "Detroit Whitey" Beauchene. Too many of them have the same opinion of the guy for it not to be accurate.
You are right Terry, No one comes even close to Whitey's record for
screwing people. From his mother to his best friend,he took no prisoners.

Isn't it interesting. Obviously Detroit Bob Dancer was an understudy of Detroit Whitey.

David, Did you get the same mispronunciation of your last name as Calvin did? They called him Hargrove. I corrected the spelling on the, Nick-name, page over at onepocket.org. Check that out, you will see some great old nick-names. Hey, I'm even in there, LOL.

Someone,I forget who, told me Danny once got 3 guys to stake him in a tournament. They were all in for half. Danny won the tournament!
How was the money cut?

Let me guess...they got half and Danny got half?

I'm not sure if the last name is spelled correctly, but this guy was a real weasel (as Freddy called him). The only story I've heard about (besides the one Grady told at onepocket.org), was that a guy named Cueball stepped in front of a guy that had a gun aimed at Joey, and diffused the situation. And to repay Cueball, a few days later Joey set up a game with Cueball staking him, and proceded to dump him. Too bad Grady isn't posting

Sounds like Joey Torman. He was the most reacherous human I ever met. If itwasn't nailed down, Joey would steal it. If he had $20.00, Joey would dump him. If he was playing and the money was posted, you had better check it after every game. He was though, quite entertaining.

We were at theHorse Track in Denver and Joey asked for a ridetothe pool room. Isaid sure.

We both hit the last racefor a little bit and Joey was as happy as a pig in s***!

I was unlocking the car when two guys ran upon us with guns demadingthe money. I'm digging mine out and JOey said hold it, hold it. Heproceededtotalki them out of it. I near crapped myself, but they tookoff. Joey laughed andlalughed all the way to the pool room and when we got there he asked me for a Jelly Roll.
