Match with John

I know Eric well enough and I like him a lot. He's a very intelligent and successful guy. He's thoughtful, generous, and plays good pool.

I don't consider him violent at all, but anybody can get physical when attacked, provoked or confronted.

What are the odds (all things being equal) if he and JB get it on?

POOL

PAIN

TIA, a

It started when I said to the guy who Eric was shooting with "I can't wait to see this match". Eric heard me and replied to me (and towards John) "it's going to be an old fashioned goat roping" John replied "yeah but it won't be the person you think getting roped". THEN John started asking Eric to play a race for a thousand before your match. John did state that challenge multiple times, and finally Eric replied, "what I would like to do John is knock your teeth out". John said "oh, now you want to beat me up? ". Eric said "yeah I'd like to" and John said "yeah, come on" and Eric grabbed a pool ball from his table and walked over to John. Eric took off his glasses. John picked up a pool ball as well. They stood there for a few seconds nose to nose, and all I could think was that I didn't want anything to stop this match from happening! I saw my hour+ drive and hope for a promised side bet with JB (which he bailed on) going by the wayside. I walked up to both of them and said "Come on guys. We have a big match about to happen. Don't let it get ruined". And that was enough. They separated and Eric walked back to his table, but as he walked away he threw the pool ball over his shoulder onto Johns table.

One can only hope that they settle their issues as nicely as the two of you have. On the pool table.

I was that guy...lol
Nice to have met you.

The other way to look at it is John was asking to get decked. See its all about perspective.

But maybe you can answer if the owner of a pool hall should allow his customers to get berated in public? See there is a place in Eerie PA where I don't think this would have been tolerated. Ed will learn that in order to shake the public opinion of a pool hall, sometimes you need to act above that stigma.

no he barked at him to play..then it got out of hand.eric is the one who pushed out his chest and came over

Where is the write up Lou!!!

Only John would bark about playing a separate $1k match right before his $10k match was going to start. Is anyone surprised?

I was the one playing on the table with Eric and I can tell you, I was shocked. Maybe I shouldn't have been because I've been witness to these guys barking at each other before. I just thought that with the match looming that John wouldn't want any distractions.

Koop - learning to never be surprised

Koop, you have been around here about twice as long as I have so it probably shouldn't shock you when it comes to him and barking about gambling...but it definitely might be different in person of course vs just on here. For five years I have seen some things like this and other things that sort of make you roll your eyes. Oh well...the match is done, and we will what happens next (hopefully nothing so this can just go away not to take anything away from Lou's victory).

Agreed on all points.

Lou is probably on vacation at the expense of JB.

Can't blame him if he hasn't written a report.

lol. Tomorrow, Part One of Three.

Some of you will probably really enjoy parts two and three. Basically, what I decided to do is break it up into: the lead up to the match; the match; and a post mortem.

Thank you to the many of you that have been asking about it privately and encouraging me to type it up. I showed my wife, Gail, Part One of this this afternoon and she gave it her blessing. If she sprinkles some holy water on part's two and three they'll be out Wednesday and Friday respectively.

Just one more thing: I am writing up *my* take on what happened. I have no doubt that John, his cronies, and others will have a different take. And of course that's OK. To reiterate: what will follow is MY take and how I saw and experienced it. It will be honest and sincere and as factual as I can make it. YMMV.

This is something I look forward to with great anticipation!

Congrats on the win Lou, I think you earned every penny and then some for all you went through...

John vs Lou - the gift that keeps on giving. :grin-square:

Just waiting on you. As the victor you earned the right to go first IMO.

Challenge match rules state that either player can write the first post mortem.
In fact, this is AZ Billiards where you don't even have to play pool to write an evaluation of a challenge match.

I am interested in hearing how Michael Lalumiere fits in with all this.
