Matchroom Announces New MC Points Events

MATCHROOM SPORT can announce that the Sturgis Warm Up at The Shady Rack Saloon in St. Louis will be included in the ranking list for Team USA selection for the 2015 Party Poker Mosconi Cup.

Taking place July 25th at the popular and newly remodeled biker bar, the annual Eight Ball Tournament has been a popular event for years and has drawn a stellar list of champions including One Eyed Ralph and Big Bubba Sterns who has won five times in the past seven years.

According to Luke Riches of Matchroom Sport, “We’ve heard some of the motorcycle enthusiasts who frequent this establishment can be sticklers when it comes to new comers but we’ve been told by management that everyone is welcome and the regulars will be on their best behavior.”

Riches went on to say, “Matchroom is also looking at Mosconi Cup points events to be held at two sports bar chains, Pink Galleon and Dave & Busters. We are especially excited about the prospect of events at Pink Galleon venues and feel the hot pink cloth will introduce a new colorful aspect to the proceedings.”

Players eligible for Team USA, who finish in the top 32, will be awarded points on a sliding scale. The five man USA team for the Mosconi Cup will comprise the top three players in the ranking list as well as two wild cards named by captain Mark Wilson and whomever Matchroom bloody well wants.

The 22nd annual Mosconi Cup takes place from 7th to 10th December this year at a venue to be named in the near future.

The full calendar of qualifying events as well as the points system to be used will be announced in due course. There will be three players selected from the ranking list as well as two wildcards, and all will be confirmed around the end of October. Ranking lists will be published onwww.matchroompool.com as well as the Facebook page and Twitter feed of the Mosconi Cup at least two days before the actual event.

Tickets for the 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup will be available soon.

LOU, I think you forgot the points event at the "Pink Pussy Cat" club, that was recently announced. The air conditioning is broken, but Matchroom has stipulated
that if any eligible players want to play topless (because of the heat) they won't have to wear pasties. Also when the dancers are doing their sets, play will be suspended. :cool:


PS. So if you see any players wearing pasties, you'll know their Illegible. <------- meant in the Danny Dilliberto manner of his famous amphibious (as in plays opposite handed)

PSS, Great post Lou, Will they discuss at the players meeting at the Shady Rock Saloon, that if an object
ball hits the pocket facing on the way in that it won't count unless you called a bank. Just wondering. :)

These are the top seeds going into March for the 2015 Mosconi Cup team. TEAM USA will reportedly be wearing overalls to target their newest demographic profile.

The GBTA has also been contacted to sanction this event. We are still reviewing all the particulars.
