Matchroom Major Event-European Open (8-13 Aug), Fulda, Winner $30K Prizefund $200K

It's a very elite group of quarterfinalists at the European Open. The top four Fargo players will be joined by Szewczyk, the 2022 World 10-ball Champion and also Anton Raga, too. Barring an Uski comeback from 9-6 down, the last eight will all be 800+ Fargos. Of course, as Matchroom is attracting the best fields ever seen in our sport, this will happen from time to time.

It's a fan's delight.

I would have been pissed to see Shane lose to that guy. When Shane cut that almost frozen 9 in, his heart dropped, right as he was laughing. He knows he was lucky to even make it to the last 16. GO USA!!! 🇺🇸

Tim was seen stifling a laugh when Shane was down 8-7 and ran too close to the 9 ball. From that moment, Shane won three straight.

Imagine the memes!

I interpreted that smile as "I can't believe I still have a chance in this rack/I can't believe Shane got himself into this shot".

He was smiling more often and I interpreted it as him realising the match was very mediocre and he had ample oppurtunity to win the the match of his life, but blew it half a dozen times.

I'm watching Gorst/Filler on matchroom.live

The juniors and Wojciech Szewczyk vs Anthony Raga are live on YouTube. Channels are Matchroom Pool and Matchroom Multi Sport.

I don't do DAZN these days.

that's my take as well. tim was smiling all the time, including at his own mistakes. he was obviously both nervous and happy to have made it to L16 playing svb. he's rated at 743. but when he made that face screencapped in the thread i burst out laughing

That’s what happens when things are taken out of context. I saw one post on fb where a fan was so upset that Tim was smirking at Shane’s blunder and called out that one screenshot. I guess the fan completely completely ignored he was doing that the whole match.

Good to see the crowds have come out! I've not been impressed with some of the MR event turn outs. Nothing makes a party like lots of heartbeats and crowd noise.

It takes a while to build up an audience for an event. I remember when the audience for the Mosconi Cup in Las Vegas was maybe 200. All the other Matchroom events are fairly new except for the US Open which is a new incarnation and location. (And I hope that they will find somewhere for it other than Atlantic City in the long run.)

I would figure the countries are tied to the players in the broadcasting software. They got the top line showing wrong flags.

Anyone know what’s on Fedors cue. He has a truewood with leather wrap but it looks like he has another type of wrap further back as well?
