Matchroom Major event -Hanoi Open (10-15 October),Vietnam, Winner $30K

Not impressed by Shaw celebrating Fedors miss! That’s an ok move , maybe, in the Mosconi cup but pretty poor here.
I think Fedor should have let him play them out though, would have been funny if he had then miscued on one of them!
I've seen it happen, in the Finals no less. David Howard vs. Danny Medina in the finals of the Disneyland Open back in the 1980's. First prize was $15,000, a big payday back then. At hill-hill David broke, made a ball and left the nine in front of the side pocket with the one ball a few inches away. It was a perfect little billiard to win the match and the cue ball was right in line to shoot it. It couldn't be missed! David raised in arms in joy and had a big smile on his face. The title and the money was his! He got down on the shot and miscued! Danny then got BIH and made the shot. Sometimes crazy things happen. I think the ref should have made Jayson shoot those last three balls. There should have not been a concession allowed if that was the rule.

After mini comeback v Lechner in last 16 match earlier, an excellent comeback by Ko from 3-8 down to win 7 straight racks 10-8. This was despite subpar performance in first half- not making 1 ball on the break often, uncharacteristic botched misses
Turning point was this missed 9 ball by Kyle to get on hill while he was leading 8-5.
Ko is the man to beat and slight favorite to snap this title off but no one has won back to back MR majors in same year before:LOL:

Kyle looked awkward and hesitant before shooting that shot. What should have normally been an easy shot became difficult in his mind. Negative thoughts will definitely affect your stroke!

Did Ouschan actually concede with three balls left to pocket? I know a easy three-ball run out is almost always a given for the pros, but still, lightning or nerves can strike at any time. It's not disrespectful to make an opponent complete the game. I could understand a one-ball-easy-shot concession, but not three or even two.

I recall in an 8-ball league game the best player in the league ran the table and pocketed the 8 for the win. But his team did not cheer. They were in agony because their shooter had failed to call the pocket as the rules decreed. It was an obvious straight-in shot, nobody could possible claim it went anywhere but where he intended it. The question was - would I call the foul? Hell yes I called the foul.

The shooter was an honest player, and if he had realized his foul he would have called it on himself, but he was oblivious to his mistake, maybe wondering why his team was silent instead of applauding his win. I wasn't going to donate our win back to the other team, and I don't think they even expected that. He lost, so he lost, and nobody ever gave me a bit of grief about calling the foul. Of course, I didn't jump up and down and say "Nan na na - you didn't call it!" I waited a beat, then very quietly said "Foul" and sat back down without even looking at the shooter or his team.

Some years later I saw 8-ball league players pushing something around the rail. It was the marker used to designate the called pocket for the 8-ball.

Fedor just got pissy and still lacks that last bit of maturity and composure within his game

perfectly normal for a younger player

The MR website has this concession rule

Anyone in favor of cue ball behind the line on a scratch off the break? It would add more variety to the game, especially with how many scratches there are with the cut break. Maybe even spot made balls too.

I know they have a pretty good thing going just a thought...

One thing I've liked about this tournament is how respectfully into the games the crowd is. It seems most tournaments are either morgues or insane asylums (Mosconi Cup). I'm loving the oohs and aahs and cheers from an obviously focused and knowledgeable crowd. It really gets me into the action moreso than other streams I watch.
I was watching a 3c billiards tournament from there and the crowd was loving it.

Was very cool, for sure.

You are within your rights to call it based on the rules, but I would never do it. Winning on such a technicality feels wrong.

I have said it a thousand times on the forum. BUMS IN SEATS. Matchroom need to make this a priority. It changes everything. There is a reason they play laugh-tracks on sitcoms. It supercharges everything.

yes, the crowd engagement makes it a different experience altogether. maybe it was no coincidence that two MC veterans went to the final. sanjin looked like a fish out of water.
