Matchroom Premier League Pool (PLP) (14-21 Feb2022), nineball, 9ft, Winner $20K

This production needs the players sitting in high top chairs.

They should throw out those little baby chairs

And replace with these big sofa chairs like those in gentlemen clubs

Shaw gifted him that set... was tough to watch. SVB had his chances but Filler doesn't miss
They both looked completely bored and were dogging.

Not sure on the excitement factor of this presentation.

Definitely needs some fans or something, it's pretty terrible like this...

Sky came out to watch SVB yesterday and was wearing a neat Busch Light shirt and livened up the environment. Maybe MR should make him sit in on all the matches as background.

It looks like there's definitely some fatigue setting in and it's only day 3. Eliminations don't start until AFTER day 5?! That's way too long. This is turning into a slog of an event. They need more players, faster eliminations, and fewer matches.

Really confusing how they select the match-ups. Naoyuki played 10 matches, some played 9, 8 etc and Shane only played 5.

do you mean the scheduling? i think everybody will play each other but they probably schedule asian players to play early in the day and american players to play late

Na, I like the format. Make them earn their winnings! It is a game after all, most of schedule time to play it for enjoyment...I don't feel sorry for them (that's the career they chose). It does probably favor the youngens though.

Instead of eliminating 6 players after 5 days, they should make it more exciting by eliminating the player at bottom of table everyday. That is what made last year's format exciting cos they eliminate 1 player every day. But last years format was also unfair cos they add 2 new players every day so the players at added on last few day of stage 1 were at big disadvantage compared to those added in first few days.

I think we will see a lot of changes to this "Premier League" over the next years, if Matchroom decides to stick with it.

If you look at Darts, you get a good perspective where Matchroom is aiming at.
Weekly events with just a handful of players and a different location every week.
That said, Matchroom tried to establish a Snooker Premier League and this format never gained the popularity they wanted.

Anyway, I think 2022 will be very important year for pool. If Matchroom gets the attention they want for their events, pool will be on the same path as Snooker in one or two years.
But if viewer counts go down or fan attendance is low for their tournaments, they will drop out again and pool will suffer the same stagnation as it did in the past decade.

I really like this format. True round robin, no luck of the draw. Yes, it is a bit laborious in the early stages, but you get to see every matchup that interests you. The event's pace will pick up after Day 5 and is sure to build to a great climax after that.

One recommendation I’d give the producers is to include in the graphic the win loss record and their current position on the table at all times. It helps the casual viewer understand the stakes of the match (if any). Especially if they are like me, dropping in and out during the day. Their current ranking on the tour is much less important imo and could probably only be displayed occasionally.

I saw that, I also saw SVB come sit behind Sky when he was playing on table 1 yesterday. Love seeing the boys have each other's backs!
