I have it from a good source that almost $10 million was spent on tables, rooms, lighting, electronics, referees, camera crew, production, hotels, transportation, prize money, scorekeepers, announcers, Internet bandwidth, etc.
No expense was spared.
I wish that a live audience had been present, but given the venue, that was not possible.
Maybe next year.

I know this was an invitational, and like the first IPT event, they wanted to honor the sport's past champions. That made the average age of the players in this event higher than they would have been otherwise. That said, the 6 players invited due to their current standings were significantly older as a group than the current top 6 pocket billiards players (lets go by Fargorate). So the question is:

Is there not new blood in the game of 3C?

Are the new players simply not as talented as these 6?
-or-
Does it actually take a top professional reaching 40 or 50 years of age to realize his full potential and become a master at 3C


Next, the 3C players seemed much more professional, not only in their actions, but even in their speech. Do these players come from rich and/or highly educated families? Is it an honor to be a professional 3C player? Or is it considered a bum like being a good pocket billard player often is.

yes theres lot of talent in the world of 3c

a 20yr korean myung woo cho ran a 40 in 4, 10 average match with a 32run as well in a practice match its on video
he can beat any of the best on any given day

so no you dont need to be mid aged to be top player

dani sanchez who didnt do so well this tournament, was like cho, being a very young player at 20, was beating sang lee

alot of talent in vietnam and korea, the new wave of top dominant players that will take over is what its looking like, more youth being developed there than europe it would seem

all carom billiard players are alike in being polite, and generally easy going people, its the culture surrounding the game

How does this event compare to crystal kelly event, in terms of luxury an host investment, anybody know?

I know the Patron is rich, but is it Monaco-rich?

Mercer's estimated wealth is somewhere between 700M and 1B! He can indulge himself all he wants. He has a tricked out 240' yacht and an estate that would rival that of Bill Gates. Big time hedge fund guy!

Probably closer to 2M, but still not too shabby. It was a Truedough size event that went smoothly and everybody got paid promptly. That's how a "real" billionaire operates and not a sleaze like Truedough!
P.S. The best estimates of Truedough's real worth were in the 50-100M range. Kind of reminds me of the "billionaire" who is our Prez now.

Crystal Kelly was nice because you could attend the event for free. Well, free except for getting to Monte Carlo and hotel and food. There was no recording or stream, so you had to be there. The prize fund was about $100k total as I recall, compared to $600k. It was held in comparable plushness, but no gold on the tables. There were only eight players and the round robin (no playoff) took a week, so the schedule was pretty relaxed -- plenty of time to see the local sights.
