Meaningless rant Fisher cue

I just recieved a cue from Byron Fisher, fit, feel,balence are first rate. His cues have a smaller diameter but I like it. I am having an issue with in myself to the cue, it has an exstremely stiff hit. This is to be expected as it is Coco and Bocote. I am definitly out of practice I have only shot about 30 games in the last 3 yrs, sad but true. I purchased the cue because I do not have a wrapless cue, it has a G-10 pin which is new to me and a Moose horn joint, with a wizard tip, I could not bring my Ivory overseas, at least I didnt want to hassle wit it. I am sure 90 percent of my issue is I have mainly shot with Ivory joints. I have yet to get a feel for the cue ball with this cue, again I have only shot 12 games of 9 ball with it. My first game I won, the second game I pocketed the nine on the brake and the 3rd game i ran down to the 8 ball and scratched. It isnt that I am doing badly with the cue, I never mis cued with it etc. I was tempted to sell it and have been thinking about it all day. It is on ebay but I dont think it will go and I have talked my self into giving it a fair chance. It could be that I am not familar with wizard tips. I had them installed due to thoughts on this forum, I usually use LaPro or Morri. The more I think about it I am beginning to believe that it is more an issue of my lack of table time than any precieved issue with the cue. It is the best braking cue I have had, it has a very solid hit and you do not have to over power it at all. Byron was a complete gentleman to deal with and this is not meant as any knock on his cues or workmanship.

Do not play anyone for a few weeks and just practice with it. Do some basic drills and get a feel for the cue. If you don't like it after a few weeks put it in the wanted for sale section. Say "it is the best hitting cue I ever had I hate to have to let it go, but some medical bills have come up and I have to move it." :grin: Good luck.
 
If it is a brand new cue, with new EVERYTHING (to you), I'm not sure that 12 games is a fair number of balls to get used to the stick.

But, you are also right .... the first thing to change would be the tip. At least get ONE THING that you are familiar/comfortable with.

you have to get used to the cue man. keep playing with it and you'll adjust with time. should only take about a month or 2
 
I searched ebay for it , but didn't see any Fisher cue, just cutec's from Allison Fisher ,,thats it <<ED
 
I agree with the general concenus it is just a matter of getting used to the differences in construction. As I siad I didnt miscue etc and never dogged a shot , that was the cues fault.
