> I saw on IndyQ that Joe is back to making Cogs again, this time with the black G-10. The pic I saw of the new pin has it looking leap-years better than the old style,as if it was ground somehow or something, the texture of the material was MUCH smoother than any G-10 pin I've ever seen. Any ideas as to how he's doing it,or is this just a custom batch of material? Tommy D.

It's still v-threads though except flat at the major.
I think a true acme would be better.
Glad to see Gold's back though.

May I ask how you roll G-10???

I think Dave was talking about shooting pool balls.
I think that pin is either done on a centerless grinder or a collet closer/swiss screw machine.
Might be from a flat sheet turned round too. Tom told me he could not find real black g-10 rods that did not come from sheets.

My guess and thats all it is would be a guess in live tooling and some type of sealer after. Glass will not come out that smooth live tool or not unless it is sealed or as I like to say it's just PFM.

I got one question how does that machine hold tolerances with the chips in the collet sending the stock in and out. Sweet Machine....
I dunno but there's a local Swiss screw machining place here who makes dental implant titanium. They have to hold really tight tolerance.
I asked them how much to make 3/8 11 pins one time. Too expensive.

When I used to build Ipsc. race guns all my firing pins were made on swiis machinery @ a local shop.

No street victims but lots of doctor's and lawyers butt alot of parts and guns from us. It's a very addicting and expensive sport. to be good you need to to shoot 200-1000 rounds a week if want to be a pro at it thats alot of reloads. Most people try it but the cost of the lead bullets shipped is to expensive to shoot that much. But when you do you love it alot.
