I met Lou Figueroa at Buffalo Billiards, the world's pool hall, today. As expected he was a very nice guy in person, much the same as on the forum.

He was busy in a gambling match when I got to the hall and by the time he was done we were both late to be somewhere else. We squeezed in a few games anyway.

I'd say our skills are pretty much equal albeit in slightly different areas. Lou was pocketing balls mighty fine and I was giving him at least shortstop level racks, heck maybe even pro level racks! I don't want to seem to be bashing Lou but I don't really know if he could have matched my racking skills. In the short time we played he didn't get a chance to show off his.

Names conveniently forgotten but there was a little talk of the usual late night gambling action at Buffalo's the night before. One pocket, $2000 a game. Went back and forth a bit I heard but they finished even so they may be going at it again.

Lou is a lucky dog getting to hang with the boys at Buffalo Billiards. I will be there in a few weeks myself and I will warn you now>I rack good....real good.

Sounds Great!

When you get down here we can have an epic racking battle and I'll take you to eat the finest fried seafood platter this side of anywhere! Lou was pressed for time but we do know how to treat visitors right down here in the sunny south.

Must be nice to meet someone from here. Feels like I've known a few of you forever.

Fried seafood platter! Now your talking:D. Last time I had one it was at a Ducks Unlimited banquet. Everything on the plate was rolled in the same breading and dumped into the same deep fat fryer at the same time. Yes it was served with one of these.

Now that you mention it I have met a number of folks from this forum and it is cool to put faces with Avatars;).

Thats funny. Getting a chance to eat seafood like Hu is talking about is worth the trip to me. It will be a bonus to see the area, shoot some pool and eat some more seafood. Did I mention we will be eating seafood?:p

Hu, I hear that once you "rack a million racks", you will have good racking skills ! :D

I assume Lou was traveling with his girlfriend?
Her name is "GINA", about 5 feet tall, super super thin???? :grin-square:

A Boon dock is a type of sandwich that is similar to a Po'boy. The trouble is they are usually found only in the middle of no-where.:p

Hello Richie,
Where have you been? I have not heard from you in a long time! Are you OK? Thanks for mentioning the Lock and the worlds poll hall, Buffalo's Billiards!!! Let me hear from you Richie? I was in Buffalo's Billiards tonight. No Lou!!!
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Has been known to happen!

Well I'm a "when in Rome" kind of guy and believe in fighting fire with fire so slug racks and such have been known to happen when that was what I was getting. These days I eat up slug racks after watching Joe Tucker's DVD's and don't mind them at all unless the one ball is well free of the other balls. However I'm never the one to start the bogus racking game and in this case Lou got my pro level honest rack, tight and as straight as I could make it!

One of the things that makes the place the finest fried seafood place around is that the fish, shrimp, and oysters are all fried in different batters and different grease so you get more distinctively different tastes. While I have eaten some mighty fine seafood platters with everything cooked in the same batter and grease this is a cut above! I'm getting in full drool just thinking about it. I have been promising myself a trip there for a week or two and Lou not having time to go caused me to miss out yesterday too. I may have to make a trip before you get here just to tide me over!

He was with a tall thin lady that looked mighty sweet, didn't catch her name. Truth is I wasn't real pleased with the way she was acting! Fun to watch, not too much fun to be on the receiving end. :D

Hu, love your humor and wit. Thanks for the thread. This is fun reading and what AzBilliards used to be all about. Thanks for reminding me that a pool forum should be fun!

Hello Hu,
I hope you are doing OK? I went to Buffalo's Billiards, the worlds pool hall last night to see you and Lou. I guess I got there to late. No Hu and no Lou.
Keep up the good work, HU.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Had a ball, but don't have time to post about it now. But let me just say that the folks at BB were gracious hosts. I do have to say that it was bit amusing to have so many guys come up to me (an out of towner) and out of the blue tell me who the biggest nit in NO was and how I wouldn't be allowed to do terrible things like chat with my opponent to even say, "Nice shot!" or joke with the rail like I was, if playing him.

I mentioned that many folks that knew us both said we'd be "an even game" and, universally, the response was, "Oh, in that case, he'll never show up. -- he don't play unless he has three balls the best of it." I also got the chance to visit and play at The Corner Pocket and introduced myself to Jamie Farrel. He shared more hilarious insight about everyone's favorite son. More later.

Lou Figueroa
still chuckling
