Meucci sale....???

Concerning Meucci-- I know of no product of any type sold in the US that has such a high percentage of owners and former owners who go out of their way to tell people how bad the product and customer service are and how they would never ever buy another. With solid American cue makers like McDermott, Viking, Pechauer, Schon etc. and foreign cue makers like Predator, Mezz etc. I'm guessing Meucci will never get back to where it seemed to be in the 70s and 80s.

Can one break with the Rhino carbon shafts?
I picked up a couple of J Flowers cues this past year and I break with one of those. It's held up quite well. 12.9mm, Tip's a moori medium, that could be better, but I rough it up often to keep that glaze from forming after breaking w it. Solid breaker. I'd imagine you could break with any quality cf shaft. Not that you would want to, given some of the prices of those higher end ones out there tho. Lol.

I'm diggin mine. Great shaft and the price was too good not to try it out. Shipping is late all over with the x-mas rush.
Keep me posted on how it holds up over time.
I'll update you on how mine hits, if I ever get the darn thing. Lol.😭😂

A couple of months ago I called Meucci to order a cue that I once had and sold, The BMC Pro Series 5. I didn't see it listed and was told they were no longer producing that model. However, they were in the process of returning that model to their line-up and would make one for me. I ordered it with the standard "The Pro" shaft. I had that cue in 4 weeks. It was beautiful, exactly like the one I had and foolishly sold. The only difference was that it didn't have Bob's signature on the forearm. NP. A couple of days after I had ordered the cue I ordered a spare shaft but the Red Dot model. He (forgot his name) told me 2 to 4 weeks. I called back a week later and asked if I could change the shaft order to another "The Pro" shaft. He said he would get back to me. He called me back after a while and said no problem. I got the shaft in 3 weeks. The craftsmanship on the cue and the shafts was absolutely beautiful. The delivery was quick and the communication was excellent (even for this difficult customer). I called several weeks later and ordered the carbon fiber extension and bumper adapter and received that in 2 weeks.

I know about the degradation in the past of their quality and service and was sorry to have seen their decline. I also had heard that the company was under new ownership and things had changed all around. I took a chance and was 100% satisfied with my experience. For those that were burned in the past in one way or another, I totally understand and am not trying to convince you to have a change of heart. I am a lot like that myself in many ways when it comes to dealing with businesses. But I am telling potential customers that, while past stories of Meucci company's experiences were true, the "new" company has corrected any negative past practices and I wish them all the best.

I've heard other stories similar to your's. Good to see a co. like Meucci on the rebound.

Here's a problem I see.
Let's assume that the new owners have ramped up the quality of the cues that they are now making.
If you order a cue what are the chances you get old stock made before the ownership change?

Probably very unlikely. Might happen at a dealer showroom but not if ordering.

I have a break cue but I prefer breaking with my playing cue, I like a well "seasoned" medium tip on my player so I am not concerned with changes to my tip from breaking with it. Plus its only 1 cue that I need to take out and put back away and worry about getting knocked over, I have seen it happen far too often.

Glad to hear that!!
Meucci's been around for a long time. Love em or hate em, I'm glad to see one of the original companies still making cues, even under new ownership. Pool loses to many things to time.

Old 'pool wives tales' are sometimes hard to kill. I used to think certain joints only had certain feels but turns out not to be the case. We used to think that Moochies drew better because they flexed more. Again, total bs. The ferrule and tip have more to do with the feel than just about anything. always learning knew stuff. BTW, i just got a Rhino cf shaft and i'm 100% convinced it has magical properties. ;)
Hey Gar... If you're ever in the Midwest, say around St. Louie, and you've got a coupla hours to kill, we could do our own little test.
I'll buy ya lunch if I can't tell the diff. At the very least, we'll have a few laffs and tell big lies. Lol.

No need for a test. No offense bro but this has been covered AD NAUSEUM(fancy Latin for A LOT). No cue, Meucci or otherwise, makes a CB spin/draw more. You may get a cue that feels really nice and you tend to give it supernatural powers. We all do it. Its called 'confidence', in your cue and your stroke. I hate to say 'Its the Indian not......' but that's the case. BTW, i love St.Louis. Anthonino'sTaverna on Macklin has STUPIDLY good Italian chow.

I have to disagree here.
In a moment of near insanity in about 1985 I sold an Ebony Schon and bought a Meucci.
That Meucci did everything with much less effort then the Schon.
Draw,follow spin much easier.

So you have graced our infamous city w your presence. Lol.
I wasn't taking about draw or spin tests.
I was just curious if I could tell implex from steel in a blind shooting environ. No biggie.
Think I might try this myself in the local hall I frequent. Have the owners set this up so idk which is which. Try to get ferrules, tips and weight similar and see wha' happens. It won't be scientific by any means. More like a bastardized mess of a test, but I'm confident I can tell the diff, and look forward to being proven wrong. Keep ya posted.👍🏼😁

Btw... I've always taken an antacid for the Ad Nauseum you mention, 🤣 and it helps for the Italian chow you get around here sometimes that just don't sit well.😂😂🤔😁

I think it is all about the balance of the cue and how that relates to how the player strokes when it comes to english and draw.

Wood to wood joints and steel to wood have different feedback that, imo, an experienced player can feel. If they've shot with both types for many years, they should be able to tell which is which. Granted, ferrule length, tip type, shaft diameter all play a part in feedback. I honestly believe that if given the chance, I could tell an implex from steel on different cues if they had same mm shaft, same length ferrule and tip.
I'm going to attempt to have my local hall owner set this up as a blind test for me after the holidays. I'll keep you posted on the results.

Speaking of Meuccis and hit - joint differences etc…. Hard for me to believe the Meucci joint had no effect on hit. I only had one meucci and only hit with a couple. I still have my Huebler. Both 5/16-18 flat face joints. Huebler stainless collar. Meucci implex. The hit was totally different. The joint was not 100% responsible. Shaft flex/ taper played a role. Similar shaft diameters, similar tips. Bind test from years ago notwithstanding. Maybe a player could misidentify the hit. But you don’t have to be a pro to feel a big difference.

Thank you. Good to know I'm not alone in my insanity. Lol. Everyone seems to think I'm nuts. Lol.
Come to think of it, they might be on to something there.🤣
This test I'm setting up will prove it to me once and for all.
