Meucci's, Yes or No???

I played Meucci for years. Loved it, but now I play with a BHQ and I'm hooked. Is this your first cue? Meucci's not a bad choice IMO for a first cue.

meucci

There shafts arent the greatest from what i hear and having the dot pointing up every shot seems like a hassle, id get meucci butt if ya like the design and order a different shaft with it. bet ya cant guess what shaft i would suggest though, hahha.

of all cues ever made
they are my least favorite and i bought a ton

i bought 17 one day,new,none was straight
they would not stand behind it

i hate the play as well as the warped shafts
you are better off playing off the wall

I bought a Hi-pro 3 about 4-5 months ago, looked beautiful. Once I got it in my hands the inlay work was HORRIBLE I could see glue bubbles everywhere. The hit was bad as well, alot of vibration....so i returned it. Upon talking to the customer svc rep from the billiard company I ordered it from they told me that Meucci's quality has been going down hill and does not seem to be getting any better. ME, PERSONALLY I would stay away.....sucks to say that bc Ive played with a meucci in the past and it was GREAT (about 10 years ago).

Im sure there are good and bad stories that will surface, so take the opinions lightly. Ultimately its what feels best in your hands.

Yeah this isn't my first cue. I have a couple others and I shoot with a Jacoby with an OB shaft that I really love. Just spending time on ebay has the mind wandering LOL. Buying shit I don't need. Do you know if its possible to have the collar from the black dot shaft it come with removed and added to a OB/314-2 shaft so it matches? If I did decided to purchase it I would want to do that for sure. Definitely do not like what deanoc said about none being straight tho!

If you buy one, I would suggest using a site that allows returns no matter if you use the cue or not....just in case.

Meucci is by far the worst cue to get. I say this because about six months ago my brother and I ordered new cues. I got a Predator Sneaky Pete and he got the Meucci RB 4 Green. I swear a month later the but on his cue was falling apart to the point he could not shoot with it anymore.

So please please please save yourself the frustration and look for another cue. Meucci has declined over the years and they play like s**t. I would honestly rather pick up a house stick before I shoot with a Meucci. Just my opinion.

Meucci originals pre 1984 played good, Shafts were good back then (pre dot). I still have MO-1 1975 / M0-1 1/2 1975 / M0-8 1973 / 84-7 and all play great. If you buy a meucci get a Original.

it depends on what year you buy

I loved my non dot shaft on a David Howard cue.
I bought a newer scripted logo and it didnt feel as solid.
I still love the craft of the cues..
If I were it look for a meucci. I would buy an Meucci Original (block logo) and non Dot shafts. As already stated if the shaft not to your liking then change it..

Just me though!! :)

Meucci shafts play terrible. The butt's are OK at best. A friend of mine owns 3 Meucci's and he swears by them, all with their matching black dot shafts. He has one with an original pre dot shaft and it is the only one that shoots straight. However, the butt itself is as straight as a circle.

Hang on. I do not own dozens of cues, but....

Recognize the difference between the butt and the shaft. Most of the performance is in the shaft. The butt is mainly for show.

If you like the Meucci butt, you can always get a performance shaft to replace the Meucci shaft. You might end up doing this anyway with any other cue you buy. You can even order the cue with a non- Meucci shaft so you are not paying for a shaft you won't use.

Just something to consider. I happen to like some of the Meucci butt designs very much, but that is a matter of personal taste.

They play excellent, but they are fragile.. Never break with them or don't leave them in your trunk under any conditons..hot or cold... As, Meucci has his own kiln and the shafts are maple, but they are not canadian hard-rock maple.
Best of Luck !!

I have played with many different cues and meucci's play better than any cue I've tried. I do use a custom built shaft but the pre-dot and red- dot shafts are not bad. Plays much better than some 3000 cues I've played with. I also own 6 meucci's from around the 80's to early 90's and all are straight, butts and shafts and nothing is falling apart. I think Jimmy Reid and many top players from the 70's through 80's played with a meucci.
