Mike Dechaine : Things for you to know

You did not make any disclaimer when you asked .. 'Is ANYONE interested in he over/under'...

LOL ... Well I guess this is the Charlie Williams thread ... Bad Action Jam just shot me a forum air barrel.

I never confirmed your bet, friend. ;)

Truth be told, I rarely bet online. I like being there in person when I bet, for obvoius reasons, like getting paid. I don't know you. Are you on the so-called "Good Action List" of AzBilliards? Well, I'm not either.

No worries kiddo .. When someone throws out a prop, and I have an immediate opinion, I take a position. Just a natural reaction I guess.

And I am good action. There are some folks walking around with money that used to be mine. There just isn't very many of them .. :D

As well, Charlie moving the seeds around on the chart like a coach moving football players wreaks of favoritism.

The word is 'reeks'.

As in: Charlie moving the seeds around on the chart...reeks of favoritism. It could possibly wreak havoc on the turnout of the tournament.

MD sent me this basic sequence of events for clarity.

1. months ago I said I was playing, then let CW know on July 3rd I may not be able to attend due to a class reunion and a good friends wedding.

2. On July 4th he responded.
"Charlie Williams

Charlie Williams
You are the #3 seed in the event so let me know asap if anything changes or if you know a player that can take your spot"

3. I was able to shift things around in my schedule and on the 8th, I asked if he would pay my entry into the event. He said, he would put me in for 50/50. I said okay.

4. Now, this past saturday, I found out he was giving free entries to the entire cast the The Hustlers. So I called him and talked about it. I again asked him for a free entry. He said the Hustler's cast free entries didn't allow those players to keep any winnings so I said, let me think about it.

5. 5-10 min after we hangs up the phone, I sent a text saying "let me know if you change your mind" - for those who may be unaware, this is not uncommon wrangling that goes on behind the scenes and I was trying to get a free entry based on a Hustler's promo that would work both ways for both the show and this tourney.. He again said, he can't do it. Then he wrote. Its too bad, with me being the #3 seed and all so I finally said I will pay my own entry. He said, perfect.

6. I get down to the tournament, I am no longer seeded #3. I am 9-15.

7. I immediately got upset because he is moving the players around that he has in the tournament for better results. I wasn't very concerned about my bracket, and as far as Mika is concerned, he hasn't beat me in any game for the last 5 years. It was based on principle. I don't think it is right for any Tournament director to change things up once they commit. Also, and for the record, I was told I was the #3 seed prior to ANY of our attempted negotiations.

8. After having traveled all the way to this tournament fully expecting to play, it's true that after seeing how Charlie changed seeding around, I did get upset and let him know it. For me it was nothing to do with my bracket and everything to do with integrity and principal.

Thanks,
MD

Thanks Chicken .. that all sounds believable to me.

I think one can cut through all the horseshit by harnessing one simple fact in this matter.

Mike was initially seeded at #3 .. When he got to the room his seeding was changed.

There is only one person who could have seeded him originally, and only that person could be responsible for changing his seed.

Why did the seeding change? We know who changed it, so what was his motivation?

Seems rather transparent to me...

While we're on the proofreading mode, it is "principle," not "principal."

I read all and still don't get it...
Why a "promoter" would post all that shit on a forum if he doesn't want to hear what we have to say about it?
Will MD make a statement on this thread? Probably NOT! I wouldn't do it either...
Maybe a couple years ago he would've said a few but he's trying to behave lately and change his attitude. And as a guy that sees him very often he is doing very well on that.
As for CW:
1. Bravo for 14.1 WC!
2. You are 2" away of entering the top 10 most hated persons in the world of pool. You are pulling that way...

As a note: CW "love/sex" life should be his concern...and it might become a big concern soon if he goes with "the key" way...

are you taking him to school on "principal"? lol

looks like he got it right in paragraph 7.

what does that make his accustats number?

One thing I can say is that Charlie made an offer to the cast of The Hustlers to come play in the straight pool for free. He did stipulate that if you play for free you can't win the prize money though. I thought it was a good deal cause most of us don't get a chance to compete with that level of player on a regular basis nor are we going to be winning very much plus we save the $600 entry. That would have been mutually beneficial. We all have jobs though so we didn't play.

I still feel like it's a non issue, if I want to call out of work or decline a job it's nobody's place to tell me I should have to do otherwise. This would be different if Charlie would have paid Mike D. to play or refused to refund an entry fee and held the money. With the way it is though both people get to walk away clean and move on.

One big non-issue but pool is weird like that, we'd rather talk about who didn't play more than who is playing. This isn't anything compared to the shenanigans that has gone on at the US Open for the last 6 years. No players made a stand there huh?

Who the hell wants to watch Duddy run to 100..4 balls at a time? (Couldn't resist the opportunity).

Well he did say he had a class reunion to attend in Point 1. So maybe it was principal :thumbup::thumbup::grin:

Yay I finally did a pt109.
