Mike Howerton and Mr Wilson... *sigh*

the thing about 1p-roscoe is....

why dont you stop making internet threads over and over again complaining about getting ripped off, get off the computer and HANDLE YOUR BUSINESS IN TEXAS.

like complaining on here is gonna acomplish anything.

in a perfect world, things could be accomplished. I post on several non-pool forums and one of them has more traffic than AZ. people there who make bad/phony deals are temporarily banned until the deal is squared. both parties have to sit out until the money or merchandise is made satisfactory.

people there post in the right section or their thread is moved with a warning. people there (as of last night) do not argue if their point is disagreed with..........& the list goes on.

I think that the pool forums attract more trolls and dishonest people than any other type of forum. I've been wrong before, but a lot of posters here seem to only post to see if their feelings can be stomped on & then play the "victim" card.

this post is not aimed at any one poster, but if someone feels abused about it, then maybe this post hit a (one of many) target.

if the OP is really from Georgia, then she would know the southern sexual connotation for the term, "duckbutter".

but that would require "owning up" (admitting) to actually posting sexual content and that would be a bannable offense.

there are other terms that we let slip into our lexicon that have sexual meanings, but because we are getting poorer and poorer in our rich-textured language, they slip by without even raising an eyebrow. unfortunately, the USA, as a whole, has dumbed down our language to the lowest common denominator. we are on the brink of falling like the Roman empire of old. then there will only be one superpower left....

I believe that Roscoe has made some progress in his efforts as a result of posts made here on AZ. I think you underestimate the power of these forums.

I remember reading it, but I'm not going to go searching for it to re-read it. But, off-hand, this is my take on it-

We all know people that like to 'push it to the limit', or
walk a 'fine line'. It stands to reason that those individuals will naturally be watched closer. And, walking the line, they will eventually step over it.

This is understandable,as for some, it is no more than human nature. They are usually risk takers in most things. But, admitedly, it does somewhat amuse me when the risk takers do step over the line that they so closely walk, and then act stunned, shocked, and picked on because they are over the line and got caught.

It's also human nature, that those in charge will automatically have a closer eye onthe line walkers than on those that tend to steer clear of the line. And when the 'safe' walkers do step over, they are usually just told to get back where they belong. While the line walkers are told "gotcha- you're over the line again! Keep pushing it, you are going to get it!"

I don't know just where you stepped over, as I'm not the mod that banned you. But, ask yourself this- are you a 'line walker'?

Is it totally fair? No. But on the other hand, if you don't want to get burned, stop sticking your hand near the fire. You know you are on the 'watch list' for the mods. So, unfair or not, you have to back off and step away from the line. Then, after a while, they will stop watching you and you tend to get away with a little more once in a while. You just can't make a habit of pushing it.

Excellent post Neil. You made some great observations, but it probably fell on deaf ears. People who act the way some do, do it mainly to attract attention, kind of like the town bully. But in their heart they KNOW they are being ass####s. They just can't help it.

People see what they want to see. Next time you see a fed ex truck, look for the arrow. Did you see it before? Yes, your brain did, but did your eyes.

Well, I and another had complaint threads about the same builder at 2 different times and neither were removed. Perhaps its a matter of approach and tact. Of course several builders on the site got involved so perhaps that made the difference.

was the builder banned?

Neil - please look at the post that got me a 30 day ban last month and explain to me HOW it was banning material.

Can you provide a link.

Thanks Jim.

I don't believe so. How would I find out? Is there a list of the banned that is available?

Go to the main page that lists all the forums, mid way thru the page there is a link in the middle that states 'member list' . Click on that. It lists the moderators and then banned members.

Good perspective.

Mods have a thankless job that they don't get paid for. They put up with inane posts, flames, and childish behaviour. Sure, I've questioned some threads being closed or removed, certain people being banned, and don't agree with every little thing they do. That's because you will never please anyone 100% of the time. (I know I drive them crazy on a constant basis.)

I'm not kissing anyone's ass by posting this. I've received warnings on a few occasions and have even been hit by the ban hammer. By the way, I'm always going to complain about avatars and the nature of some posts. ;) Isn't there an avatar "OFF" feature on this site?

Mike and Dave: Thanks for giving us a place to congregate. It if wasn't for AZ, I would never have made the friendships I have.

The only members list I found is the button at the top of the page. I get all 9000 plus members. I didnt see anything when I scrolled down. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place?
