I didn't, Barbara. Loree Jon played some WPBA events in 2004, and I do not recall an announcement of her retirement from WPBA play. I figured maybe I just missed the announcement, so I checked all the AZB headlines (a couple of years worth of them) using search and also checked all the press releases in 2005 on WPBA.com. Neither had anything about Loree Jon's retirement, which, surely, would have been a very big news item in the world of women's pool, as Loree Jon is one of women's pool's best ever.
Of course, if you're right and Loree Jon has retired and is no longer a member of the WPBA, it all makes a lot of sense, as WPBA sanctioning/recognition fees are, to my knowledge, based on the total purse of a sanctioned event, and would have been pretty high on this occasion. Of course, as you know, I'd rather see the WPBA get something here, but if Loree Jon is no longer one of their own, they won't.
Whatever the facts are, I'm sure Loree Jon will try to represent herself and women's pool well.
