Yeah - it will draw good attention to non pool players too, the men v/s women.
I'm almost certain that women can play in the US Open if they want to. Barry Berhman says his tournament is open to anyone with the $500 entry fee who feels they can compete with the best players in the world!Nostroke said:Women cannot play in the US Open or the World Championship so they are not going to win there anytime soon.
Sarah Rousey has a 20th out of 300+ players in the DCC- the highest finish for a female.
9BallBust-O said:Yeah no doubt would love to see them play in the OPEN - heck Id pay for Allisons flight, hotel and entrance fee if women could play in it. Just to see.
Look I dont expect her to win. Just like I dont think Hohman or Deuel are dead nuts everytime either but everyone has a chance
The Kiss said:The top women can beat men on any given night especially in an easier game of 8 ball....Whats the big deal...
I watched some yesterday and laughed as Siegal tried to tell me that 8 ball is harder than 9 ball...I don't think this has ever been the case...Basically the patterns in 8 ball are always easier...Seems they are just pumping up there tour which is fine....Funny how they keep harping on the cloth as being really tough to play...Seems to me if you try to move the cue as little as possible what difference does the cloth make???
gromulan said:They are more than welcome to play. The US Open is an open tournament, and not restricted to men at all. The reason they don't play is because their tour won't allow it.
StraightPoolIU said:Am I the only one that sees how this thread in itself is a testament to the brilliance of the IPT's promotion strategy. They spotlight the great women on the tour beating some of the men, and then they make sure the men make token responses about playing women....controversy ensues...people take sides....people will watch.

Something about Sigel being very disrespectful to women players. Someone said they would love to see Fisher or Corr mop the floor with his mouth. I agree - I would pay top $$ to see that.![]()
I strongly believe and stand by this - I dont think Mike would stand a chance against either one of them.
In addition I would like to add that he did place below Jasmine and J Lee at the past 14.1 tournament.
gromulan said:You are totally 100% correct about this. 8 ball is a joke of a game compared to nine ball, one pocket or straight pool and the fact that the IPT plays it is the only reason why you will see upsets like Corr over Archer or Neils. Hell, an APA 7 might win the odd match against a pro playing 8 ball.
Real pool is ahead sets of nine ball or one pocket, or at least long races. Sadly you will never see either in a tournament, which is why the tournament game gets so little respect amongst those who truly know the game.

im not bein $hitty here but thats what I mean. No matter how well a top woman plays I dont believe they would ever gain your respect as a world class player because there is always a way to say .. its not real pool .. or it was all luck .. or .. she culd never do it again.[/U][/B]
