Very Very nice, and as traditional as it gets!!!!!

Thanks for the post!!!!!

Altho they are quite nice. Butterfles arent really my thing but dontlet me post discredit the workmanship. they are beautiful

Fantastic, I love the ebony nose blank, the woods in that cue are beautiful. I want to see the cues finished.

Very, very nice!!! I'm happy to see somebody pursuing the old school splicing & bringing it back to life. No lost art here :) Great job

Question about wood type

Question for whomever can answer. In the second picture the dark brown wood is what I believe to be Rosewood. Can someone verify that and what version of Rosewood i.e. Brazilian, East indian, etc. If it is not Rosewood can you tell me what type of wood that it is.

By the way I too am not a real fan of this style cue but after seeing these nice pieces of work I may be persuaded to change my mind. Very nice indeed.

Thanks

Kevin

Kevin,
The nose woods in most the cues is cocobolo. I believe the one dark wood is macassar ebony. I am working on getting the list of woods.

I believe the one cue that I exhibited with the rotated sides is pau ferro and chechen.

There are several things about Paul's work that continues to blow my mind almost every time out of the gate.

1) He continues to push the envelope. Non-stop! His designs are ingue (<---- that's supposed to say 'unique'), original, and outside of the box. No one thinks like he does.

2) He pulls off exactly what he sees in his mind and creates a gorgeous finished product.

3) His cues play extremely well.

4) There is a simplicity to his work in that he avoids things like inlays and lets the woods speak for themselves.

He is a genious and one of the most underrated cuemakers in the game today!!!!!!

Not to diminish what Paul is doing but wasn't there recently a guy from Russia doing similar work. DBK or something like that??

DBK is making spliced point cues and I haven't seen any posts of butterfly style cues. But they are doing 6 point full splice work.

Kelly,
They weren't when he posed the question. I added that as soon as I got in touch with Paul.

As usual, Paul's work is absolutely incredible.

That is pretty much the consensus. Mike wish you were closer, seems Thursday nights at Crown Billiards in NJ we get a little cuemaker convention going. 4-5 sometimes 6 good cuemakers sharing knowledge and showing the goods. Fanelli, Skip, John Bender, Rubino, a guy no one knows.. John Merrill, we had TNS there, a hobbyist named Joe McKenna. Good time talking wood..

Paul let me know that a sister cue to the first cue in the second picture is also close to availability. It would be the same except it has a satinwood forearm and chechen points.

All cues are 4-6 weeks out...

Joe
